Join Wanderframe as a visual storyteller to document Gili’s coral conservation. This program invites volunteers passionate about underwater photography, video documentary, and storytelling to capture coral restoration, vibrant marine life, and the hands-on efforts of local communities protecting these fragile ecosystems.

Your work will help amplify local voices, ensuring that the community—not outsiders—owns the story of their reef. By filming and photographing coral restoration projects, educational workshops, and daily conservation activities, you support ethical marine tourism, environmental awareness, and long-term storytelling.

Through your lens, you are not just recording beauty—you are highlighting the resilience of both the reef and the people who care for it, creating visuals that inspire action and understanding around the world.

Aktivitäten & Schichten

Core Activities

Film and photograph coral restoration efforts, including planting and monitoring coral fragments
Capture underwater life via snorkeling or diving (optional, based on skill level)
Conduct interviews and record stories of community members and education programs (with consent)
Document community engagement, daily activities, and conservation initiatives
Curate photos and videos for community use, websites, and awareness campaigns
Participate in briefings, debriefs, and workshops on ethical storytelling and underwater photography

Daily Schedule

Morning Shift (06:30 – 10:00)

Film and photograph coastal landscapes, coral reefs, and sunrise shots
Snorkeling or shallow-water footage of coral and marine life

Midday Break (10:00 – 14:00)

Rest, backup footage, light editing, and community interaction
Optional workshops, interviews, or discussions on conservation storytelling

Afternoon Shift (14:00 – 17:30)

Focus on community-centered storytelling: education programs, daily life, and portraits
Capture golden-hour photography and video over the reef and island

Notes

Schedule may adjust based on weather, tides, or local activities
Volunteers work independently or in small teams
No night photography required
Safety, environmental care, and informed consent are top priorities

Regeln

Respect the Community
Always ask for consent before photographing people or private spaces. Locals are partners, not subjects.

Follow Ethical Photography Guidelines
No staged scenes, misrepresentation, or exploitation of people, culture, or environment.

Use Your Own Equipment Responsibly
Bring and manage your camera gear safely, especially in marine and shared spaces.

Protect Marine Life & Nature
Do not touch or damage coral, disturb wildlife, or leave litter on land or in water.

Safety Comes First
Follow instructions from local guides and marine coordinators, particularly during snorkeling, diving, and boat activities.

Respect Cultural Norms
Dress appropriately and follow local customs at all times.

Image Usage Agreement
Selected photos will be shared with the community and Wanderframe for non-commercial use. Photographers retain credit.

Professional Conduct
Be punctual, communicate clearly, and treat fellow volunteers, staff, and locals with respect.

No Alcohol or Substance Use During Activities
Volunteers must remain fully aware and responsible during all fieldwork.

Follow Local Coordination
Final decisions in the field are made by local facilitators and Wanderframe coordinators.
