Detalhes
We are starting a project to build three eco-friendly A-frame cabins (Airbnb) in the Buwaya Peninsula near Lake Victoria. Volunteers will help with different stages of construction such as preparing materials, carpentry, roofing, and finishing work.
We’re looking for people with DIY, carpentry, or construction skills who can work with less supervision and take initiative.
In return, you’ll have a private room in a spacious home within a welcoming community near the lake. Work is about 25 hours per week, leaving plenty of time to explore, relax, and enjoy the area.
This is a great chance to be part of a project from the ground up and help create sustainable eco-accommodation for future travelers.
Atividades & Turnos
Volunteers will take part in hands-on building tasks to support the construction of the A-frame eco-shelters. Activities may vary depending on the stage of the project but can include:
Preparing materials – measuring, cutting, and organizing wood or other supplies.
Framing & carpentry – assisting in building the A-frame structure, walls, and floors.
Roofing & finishing – helping with installation of roofing, doors, and windows.
DIY construction tasks – using hand tools, fixing, or assembling parts.
Site maintenance – keeping the work area safe, clean, and organized.
Creative input – suggesting practical ideas to improve the building process.
Volunteers usually work about 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, with breaks in between. Work is collaborative but requires independence, as supervision may be limited.
During free time, volunteers can relax at the home, enjoy the peaceful environment, or explore the nearby Lake Victoria and local community.
Regras
Volunteers should arrive on time and be ready to work each day.
Safety first: Follow instructions for tools, materials, and site work.
Be self-motivated and proactive, as supervision will be minimal.
Keep your room and shared spaces tidy.
Collaborate with other volunteers and communicate clearly.
No drugs or excessive alcohol on-site.
Report any issues or concerns promptly to the project coordinator.
Flexibility is important; tasks may change depending on project needs.
