The Kissiri Family is the most welcoming family ever! I have been treated here like I am a part of their family. The farm is the most calming place and living here is truly a dream. The work with the Kids is amazing and I learned so much from them. The Kids are very eager to learn and so thankful for the time you are spending with them. I am forever grateful to have experienced this. Dr. Betty cooks THE best food ever and treated me like a Sister. Faraja will keep you on your toes and is always funny! And of course my daughter Nalita (puppy) thank you for giving me so much love. Asante sana❤️

Since I came here everyone has been treating us volunteers like part of the family and it creates a very safe space especially for people travelling alone. The idea of community center is amazing all the kids are very grateful and it's visible they're happy to go there everyday and learn. You can help alot here, but you will also learn alot from locals about their culture and language as well!Couldn't dream of better place for my first volunteering experience.Biggest thank you to the whole family Mama, James, David, Faraja, Dr. Betty (best cook ever) and also Daudi for making my stay amazing❤️

I want to recommend this experience 100%, the school where you go every morning is close to home and the experience with the children was fantastic In the afternoon you can dedicate your time in the structure near home which welcomes children from the area to help them to study and doing homework James, Betty and mama are amazing people! They will always make you feel at ease and you will be able to eat delicious dishes! I formed an excellent relationship with them and now they are like a second family to me ❤️ Asante sana nawapenda ❤️

I had such a great time at Kissiri House! I'm so grateful for James for being so kind and organizing everything so flawlessly and for the nice accommodation. For Doctor Bethy for being so sweet and making the best meals ever. She really felt like an older sister, ready to help with anything you need. Also, thank you to Faraja & Mama Kissiri for helping me feel so at home. I loved working at the school and especially at the library, I'm going to miss the children so much! It was such a beautiful way to meet and talk with locals and explore the project's beautiful culture. Asante Sana!

I would recommend this experience to anyone, seeing the kids at school and helping them is really touching and fun, especially when you get to know them more, they'll get comfortable and will ask for more help, same goes for the teacher who needs to know you before giving more and more things to do. James is very kind and will organise anything to make the stay comfortable, he's definitely someone you can count on. Betty (his sister) will make you feel at home and do everything to help you get comfortable ! She's also very fun ! The accomodation is really nice ! If you hesitate, don't !

I had a very nice experience in Arusha with James and his family. At the school it is arranged for you to take responsibility for how much you want to interact, and you get the opportunity to choose a lot yourself. I taught grades 5 and 6 and the kids were super happy, clever and greatful. At weekends there is an opportunity to explore more, here too it is important that you take responsibility yourself and make things happen. Would recommend the waterfall and to da safari! Arush is a nice city and everyone is very welcoming!

We stayed with the Kissiri family for 10 days. They made our stay really nice and comfortable. We were having breakfast around 8, then we were going to the school until 12. Coming back home to have lunch and the rest of the day, he had free time until dinner time around 8pm. We enjoyed our time in the school, the kids are really polite, patient and happy. From our experience, we recommend it to anyone who wants to have a full experience of living in in a Tanzanian environment and get the chance to help in a local school. Asante sana 🙏🏻

What a wholesome and culturally-rich experience. I cannot recommend this enough. I have completed many volunteering roles before and this was my favourite. The impact you have on the lovely children is so rewarding. Everyday I taught a class in the school and in my spare time I went to orphanages and helped out in the community library and helped raise funds on social media. The host family is amazing and really supports you. I loved the school and the children were so appreciative and eager to learn. Feel free to message me with any qs! If you are thinking about doing it, just do it! :)
