I had a lovely time at the hostel working with Miri and his managers Micah and Hanneke. The work was easy, the team was fun, and we received great discounts on the rafting and wine tours. I was able to immerse myself in cozy Berat, enjoying the local christmas market and all of the beautiful surrounding sites. There are some notes I have that new volunteers may want to know if coming during the off season: 1. The staff accommodations are cold and lack comfortable living space+ poor kitchens 2. Social atmosphere varies greatly, mostly quiet rainy days 3. Training was a bit unclear

I wish I could recommend this host since my experience there was amazing with everyone at the hostel up until the host decided to end my stay with no prior notice and refused to talk about it or give any explanation. Had to leave one day to the othet after having only been there one week and having spent so much to get there. Host was completely unbothered and acted very inconsiderate about this and didn't even acknowledge me as having ever been part of the team. Very unfortunate since everything else about this experience, from the place to the other volunteers was amazing.

I did have a really great time in Berat and loved the social atmosphere and other volunteers at Mayas, the hostel and the hostel (you will be at all 3). My only qualm is that we weren't trained very well and it kind of felt like we were just making it up as we went. Communication from the owner could have been better too, it felt very passive. We were also watched through the security cameras which felt a bit uncomfortable.
