Detalhes
Ahoi! I live onboard the fantastic vessel Sølvskjær, an wooden trawler from 1953.
I currently live onboard, I have a full time job but all my spare time goes to keep this fine old lady in ship shape.
This season, our primary focus is on woodwork for the deck and hull, weather permitting. If the weather turns unfavorable, we’ll shift to indoor maintenance, including painting and more woodwork. Your tasks will be planned together based on your experience, and training will be provided for all activities.
This is a unique opportunity to gain practical skills, work on a historic vessel, and be part of a vibrant maritime community. We look forward to welcoming you aboard Sølvskjær!
We also have a larger vessel "Erkna" that is preparing to sail from Oslo to Shetland and back, if needed it is also possible to work onboard her. This can be dependent on who is available.
Our Marina "Jeløy Kystlag" also does a lot of work for the community. Everyone connected to the marina joins a "dugnad" (community work on our common vessels and equipment) every Thursday from around 17:00. Often with a lot of social activities.
You will also have your own vessel to live and sleep on! There is a tugboat from 1957 that has a cabin and saloon with beds for three. The vessel also has a small kitchen and bathroom with shower and hot water.
Atividades & Turnos
Sølvskjær is located in Moss, just outside Oslo.
It is easy to visit Oslo with less than one hour on the local train.
Sølvskjær is moored together with several other vessels and we hare a lot of cultural activities going on. Activities can be everything from BBQ to sailing some of the common available smaller sailing vessels here.
I am an Naval engineer and with 17 years of experience from the Navy I might have something to learn away also.
I also think of myself as a good cook.
I hope for learning exchange.
Regras
No drugs or smoking onboard.
