The program at aims to enhance the capacity of our staff and community members to safeguard vulnerable children in the Kakuma Refugee Camps and Kalobeyei, Kenya.
Through this program, the volunteer will be vital in designing and delivering training sessions on child protection, advocacy, and child rights. They will work closely with SCA teams to strengthen child safeguarding measures, prevent abuse, and promote a safe environment for children to grow and thrive.
The program focuses on:
- Equipping staff and volunteers with child protection skills.
- Raising awareness within the community about child rights and well-being.
- Supporting the implementation of child-centered programs to address the unique challenges children face in refugee contexts.
By contributing to this program, the volunteer will help create a long-term, sustainable impact, empowering children and the community to build a brighter future.
Atividades & Turnos
**Key Activities:**
1. **Training Delivery:**
- Conduct workshops and training sessions on child protection, child rights, and safeguarding for SCA staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Develop and adapt training materials tailored to the refugee context.
2. **Program Support:**
- Assist in implementing child protection programs and initiatives.
- Guide on reporting mechanisms for child abuse cases.
- Support the development of child-friendly spaces and activities.
3. **Advocacy & Awareness:**
- Facilitate awareness campaigns within the camps to promote child rights and prevent abuse.
- Engage with community leaders and stakeholders to strengthen child protection networks.
4. **Monitoring & Evaluation:**
- Assess the impact of training and workshops, gathering feedback to improve future sessions.
- Support SCA in documenting progress and sharing success stories.
**Shifts:**
- **Flexible Scheduling:** Volunteers are expected to work approximately **4-6 hours per day**, Monday through Friday.
- Some weekend involvement may be required for community outreach or special events.
- Schedules will be coordinated based on the volunteer's availability and program needs.
This structure ensures a balanced workload while maximizing the impact of the volunteer’s contributions.

- Adhere to SCA’s child protection and safeguarding policies.
- Report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect immediately through the appropriate channels.

- Demonstrate respect, cultural sensitivity, and inclusivity when working with refugees and team members.
- Avoid any behavior that could harm the reputation of SCA or jeopardize the safety of the community.
4. **Punctuality & Commitment:**
- Be reliable, punctual, and adhere to the agreed-upon schedule.
- Notify SCA in advance if changes to availability arise.
5. **Collaboration & Teamwork:**
- Work collaboratively with SCA staff, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Accept feedback and adapt to meet the needs of the organization and the community.
6. **Training Standards:**
- Ensure all training sessions align with SCA’s mission and child rights principles.
- Use approved materials and methodologies for workshops.
7. **Cultural Respect:**
- Respect the cultural norms and practices of the community while promoting child protection principles.
8. **Health & Safety:**
- Follow SCA’s health and safety guidelines, including protocols for working in refugee camps.
- Prioritize personal safety and the well-being of others in all activities.
9. **Non-Discrimination:**
- Treat all individuals equally, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, or background.
