Volunteering here could be great but issues with both the facilities and the attitude of the hosts meant that we ended up leaving early. They have basically no water which wasn't made clear to us before we arrived. Laurine gives little guidance on tasks, but is critical if you don't do it in the way she expects. She didn't provide us with any food for lunch initially and made us feel uncomfortable when we asked for basic ingredients. Overall, it didn't feel like a mutually beneficial volunteering experience, instead an overstretched small business looking for cheap labour.

Volunteering at Laurine and Syed's Kombucha the host was interesting, but I often felt more like an employee than a volunteer. I spent a lot of time on housekeeping tasks, which felt unnecessary. Communication was poor, with unclear instructions, and Laurine often criticized rather than guiding us. The hosts were rarely around, making support difficult. Lunch were lacking. But this improved after we about it. Laurine's tone often felt critical and commanding. In the end, it felt more like they were looking for free labor than a genuine exchange of help.

This volunteering has great potential, but unfortunately we experienced lots of issues meaning we left early and wouldn't recommend to others. - Extremely limited water (can't shower/wash hands/clean dishes/flush toilet) - Food not provided as advertised. Given nothing for lunch on our first day and had to beg for basic ingredients to cook with - Rat infestation - No blankets for beds and no curtains on dorm windows - Bad attitude from hosts. Laurine is rude when you don't do tasks exactly her way and bad-mouthed other volunteers behind their backs - Treated like employees not volunteers
