The project needs dedicated and committed volunteers to help with the many tasks and activities at the center. Although the 40-acre farm currently focuses more specifically on horses, you can also enjoy the firsthand experience of working with a variety of livestock including pigs, llamas, goats, ducks, chickens and much more. As a volunteer, you would be tasked with preparation of feed and feeding of horses and other animals and maintenance and repairs to assisting the vet and cleaning the paddocks. The work can be physically demanding and the animals at the farm will be your number one priority. P

Atividades & Turnos

Volunteers play a vital role in achieving the project’s goal of caring and giving the much-needed love to horses and other animals that have suffered abuse and neglect in the past. As a volunteer, you will at times get your hands dirty. Please remember that the animals are your number one priority while you are at the project. You will not be allowed to ride the horses. There is always something to do at the rescue center. If you are uncertain of what to do, you can ask an experienced volunteer and the volunteer task list.

Your responsibilities will vary on a day to day basis and you may be involved in:

o Food preparation
o Feeding of horses and other livestock
o Checking physical condition of the horses
o Rehabilitation horse
o Grooming
o Vet/Farrier Assistance
o Filling Feed bins
o Loading/unloading hay or feed
o Fence repair
o Cleaning paddocks (manure pick up)


Regras

o Required to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks
o Must have experience in horse handling and care
o Must be comfortable with heavy lifting and doing manual labour
o NO SMOKING is allowed on the property.
o Strong work ethics are required: reliable, responsible, polite, self-sufficient, eager, honest, good sense of humor, dependable, physically and mentally fit.
o Age: 18+
o No animal allergies
o Extreme Weather (heat & cold), dirt and living in a remote area must be something you can handle.
o A love for animals and some general experience of caring for an animal is a must!
o Must read and agree to abide by guidelines and ethics of the project
o Good communication skills and the ability to work independently
o intermediate knowledge of English
o Patient and comfortable around mammals and birds
o A valid driver’s license would be an asset, but is not required
