I had a lovely stay with Ana and her family. They have a wonderful vision for enriching English in their community, and it was inspiring to be part of their efforts. The family is warm and welcoming, and I truly enjoyed getting to know them and the students. It was such a pleasure to get to know the kids personally. My only suggestion is that some details could be made clearer from the beginning to help volunteers feel more prepared. Overall, it was a meaningful and memorable experience!

Ana's family was incredibly kind, welcoming, + supportive, especially when I experienced moments of anxiety or confusion. I truly felt like a member of their family. There were a few miscommunications due to cultural norms + expectations, but leading with kindness, an open mind, + flexibility resolved them. As a pescatarian, I thought I would have trouble eating, but Ana's mom did everything she could to ensure I was well-fed. The bus makes Oaxaca super accessible, + I went to Walmart to pick up the extra food I needed—very inexpensive city+beautiful culture. Well worth the new life experience

Hey Jesse,
Now writing as a friend, not just as a host 😊 — you’re truly a wonderful person. So kind, thoughtful, and brilliant. I’m really happy I got the chance to meet you! I just wish we had more time to hang out and that I could’ve shown you more of this beautiful city.
Thanks, thanks, thanks for everything. Wishing you all the best in whatever comes next — and hope our paths cross again!

My experience living with Ana and her family and helping out with YesEnInglés has been the most incredible experience here in Mexico. I would recommend it to anyone. From day one, I was made to feel like part of their community, joining family celebrations, enjoying delicious homemade food and being able to experience local festivities. Teaching English was very enjoyable and well balanced with free time, and the ability to practice my Spanish in conversation with the family has been beneficial for my own learning. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer, muchas gracias a todos!

You shall definitely go to the school!EnIngles! Ana is a super good host with a lot of experience herself as a traveller. She is fair and flexible. It is a big experience to be a part of the family and the English school. You will connect with the local people. Be prepared for local parties and great food! I would highly recommend this project if you are looking for an authentic Mexican experience!

I loved my time at the school! the school. I was there with another Worldpacker traveler and it was an amazing time with them and the host family. The schedule is pretty consistent, and the students are a pleasure to work with. I'm super grateful to the family for their welcoming energy and willingness to adapt to my planning! You are about a 1 hour walk from Oaxaca Centro, or 20 mins by car/bus. The mornings are all yours to do what you want- during which you can walk around the pueblo, exercise, go to Centro, or more- just make sure to be back for classes! Thanks so much Ana, hope to see you soon <3

This was by far my best volunteering experience to date. I arrived planning to spend a month and ended up finding a second home and staying over 4 months. The English classes are a great and the kids/adults are super fun to work with. I learned a lot about creating curriculum and materials and teaching English to beginners. Ana and her family were so welcoming and the location is perfect. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys teaching and is looking to learn more about Oaxaca. Overall 11/10 experience 🌟🌟🌟

I'm leaving the school with a heart full of good memories. Everybody welcomed me and I already felt like part of the family since day one. The classes are easy, funny and you even learn spanish at the same time. It's not too far from the center and you have plenty of time to explore everything during your time.

Volunteering at Ana's English academy was an incredible experience! The kids are full of energy, making every lesson fun, and Ana's vision for the academy is truly inspiring. Her family welcomed us with open arms, helped us improve our Spanish, and fed us the most delicious homemade Mexican meals. Their traditional parties were a highlight- they showed us how to celebrate Mexican-style with music, dancing, and laughter. If you're looking for a meaningful and enriching experience, this is the perfect place. Thank you, Ana and family!

Ana and her family were incredibly welcoming and so much fun to spend time with! The family speaks in Spanish primarily, so it was an excellent opportunity to learn and practice Spanish. The English classes were small but the students were full of energy and excited to learn. I worked alongside another volunteer to plan lessons based around the workbook Ana had created previously with other volunteers. There was a lot of downtime since classes were only from 4-7 Mon-Thurs, so plenty of time to hang out with the family or go explore Oaxaca. This was a wonderful experience!

Oaxaca is one of the best cities in Mexico. This is my first Worldpackers experience. This really is a home away from home. I have had incredible experiences with the family, volunteers and program lead whi rujs the project. The house is beyond welcoming, with a very family-like vibe, and the teaching is organised so well, great for beginners that haven't taught before. Also if you enjoy working out there's a commercial gym within the same complex with a free membership available during your stay. I loved it here so much, every time I fly in Oaxaca I will be visiting my Oaxaca family.
