Atividades & Turnos
Activities:
As a volunteer tutor, you will work with a diverse group of students, including refugee students from Myanmar, indigenous girls from Malaysia, and Thai kids and young adults. Your primary focus will be teaching math, and science, preparing them for GED exams or improving their foundational skills. In addition to individual tutoring, you’ll participate in group classes for the local refugee community, helping to create a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
This role goes beyond academics—tutors are encouraged to connect with students outside of classroom hours, building trust and confidence through informal activities like conversations, shared meals, or cultural exchanges. As a role model, particularly for the young girls, we seek a female tutor who demonstrates responsible behavior, maintains moderate alcohol consumption, and refrains from partying.
The position offers free accommodation at Wonderland Jungle Hostel, basic breakfast, and the chance to immerse yourself in a culturally rich and vibrant community. You’ll also have opportunities to support other hostel-led educational and cultural workshops, contributing to meaningful change for underserved communities.
Regras
Tutors live in a shared dorm with two teenage student girls, so an advised curfew of no later than 11 PM is in place to maintain a respectful and supportive environment. While tutors are only required to volunteer 5 hours a day, 6 days a week, they are encouraged to spend additional time with the students outside of these hours (snorkeling, sunset walks at the beach etc). This informal interaction helps build stronger connections, fosters trust, and allows tutors to serve as positive role models for their students.
