This is a review as truthful as I can write it, for fellow travelers but also for the staff team to reflect on. My experience in Brugge as city was great, Brugge is one of the most beautiful places you can stay in and I recommended fully. In the hostel however is bittersweet, I wouldn't agree with other reviews that the work is "too much" because work for the most part is simple and you can handle it, the difficulty comes in management and their lack of leadership, involvement and the worst, for me, clear communication. Hopefully those can be improve in the future. Loved my fellow volunteers <3

I had an amazing time at the hostel! There is a great vibe between workers and guests. I made strong connections even in a short period of time. We shared a room and we have access to a common area which is perfect to socialize or chill. I was able to visit Bruges during my free time however expect full days of work sometimes as the schedule depends from day to day. I had the opportunity to try lots of new skills and have big responsibilities and independence which is a great display of trust but can be quite overwhelming at times. But overall a very enriching and fun experience!!

I would not recommend this hostel. The location its nice, however they still have room for improvement. While we were there, there were three robberies and a random person tried to get into our room in the middle of the night. Also you are not considered an extra help but almost a worker. They are short staffed so they use this platform to get extra workers. If you do extra hours you get payed tho. They will make you clean the other hotel the own and the atmosphere in the hotel is far from nice.

The experience is not what you expect as a volunteer, since you are treated more as a worker. You are not an extra support, for example you can be the responsible for the cleaning of the full hostel. They try that you make extra hours all the time. It is true that you can get paid for them and if you say no, they will not force you to work, but it is uncomfortable that you have to establish limits all the times they ask you for help. Also, there were 3 thefts in the hostel during my stay and they will try that you do the cleaning of another hotel in which the environment is not nice at all.

My experience at the hostel let me to meet beautiful people that I worked with and to get to know Bruges. Charlotte as the host was always comprehensive, even thought there was some things that were out of her hands. There were some factors that made my feeling towards the hostel a little bittersweet. Factors such as the safety(2 occasions of robberies in the office at night), the poor organization of schedules(some weeks there were 2 changes of the schedule for the same week), and as a volunteer I thought that we had many responsibilities and were sometimes when everything depended on one of us.

The hostel staff is incredible! Charlotte, Gustavo, Roksana, and Pepijn are phenomenal! They made me feel at home and were truly wonderful. Charlotte, the manager, was always attentive, even during her holidays. However, the owner relies heavily on volunteers, giving us significant responsibilities with little support. Security was compromised, and there were two break-ins during my stay. Despite the challenges, I stayed because of the amazing staff and the incredible connection with my friends. Charlotte and the team made my experience worthwhile, though the owner has a lot to improve.
