Atividades & Turnos

Day-to-Day Schedule & Role

On a day-to-day basis, we are looking for someone available roughly:

3:00 – 4:00 p.m. to spend time with Novi (16), focusing on conversational English in a relaxed, informal way.

5:00 – 7:30 p.m. to accompany Bhima almost 14, when he comes home from school.
(Some flexibility with hours is appreciated when needed.) He needs some time on his own after returning from school, what he calls "chilling"

When Bhima comes home, the focus is first on decompressing and having fun let him go his own way first, and then playing, going outside, shooting some basketball, play music, or doing any other activity together 🙂.
Only after that does he move into school mode.

Later in the afternoon/evening, the role includes:

Supporting Bhima with his homework and English reading

Helping him organise his schoolwork and prepare everything he needs for the next day

Keeping things calm, structured, and positive — no pressure or power struggles

The key is balance: connection first, structure second.

Regras

We’re looking for a fun, energetic, native English- or Dutch-speaking female volunteer to hang out with our son Bhima almost 14) and our foster daughter Novi, 16.

This is not a formal teaching job. Think more positive mentor / big-sister vibe than tutor. English improves naturally through chatting, laughing, doing things together, and everyday life.

You’ll fit right in if you:

Enjoy being active (sports, walks, swimming, basketball)

Like movies, games, and relaxed conversations

Have a good sense of humour and don’t take teenage moods personally

Are calm, warm, and confident without being bossy

What you’ll be doing

Spending relaxed, structured time speaking English with Novi

Welcoming Bhima home from school, helping him unwind and have fun first

Later, helping him organise homework and do some English reading

Keeping things positive, balanced, and pressure-free

What we’re looking for

Reliable, kind, and emotionally aware

Comfortable with teenagers and everyday family life

Respectful of privacy, routines, and local culture

Safety-minded and responsible

Experience with kids or teens is great, but your energy, attitude, and connection matter more than qualifications.
