The experience was amazing! It's a really nice and beautiful place, really good for relaxing and enjoy nature. If you're an adventurous spirit who likes to sleep in a tent and enjoy some quiet time, then this is totally for you! The host is such a nice lady, she's so polite and flexible and comprehensive! All the animals are very friendly and I'm especially in love with the Donkey, he's just so sweet. The camp is an awesome place to meet locals as it has very little foreigner people. Supermarkets and town are around 20 minutes cycling from the camp and the work is very easy and straightforward

Annick was a SUPER HELPFUL and welcoming host — and runs an awesome campground! The work is good, and teaches valuable life skills. I enjoyed my time here and hope to return some day. :)

Very kind family and everyone in the camping was great and kind. Quiet and relaxing place with animals and a big forest. Respect at all times and facilities. Is one of the best experiences for me.

I had a good experience, I practiced my English, I was in contact with the animals, with nature, I learned from other volunteers, I just wish the host had a little clearer communication about the activities, but the rest was wonderful, I recommend you to go, I'm sure you will have a lot of fun

It was really an amazing and relaxing experience, the animals and the place were really nice. I would always recommend asking for more info to me or to other past volunteers before applying anyway, so don't be afraid to ask :)

We left on the first day of our stay due to unacceptable and unsafe conditions. The boat we were assigned to sleep in was uninhabitable: it leaked, had puddles, and the mattress, pillows, and walls were covered in mold. Mold can cause serious health issues! Annick rudely dismissed our concerns, claiming it was the Volunteers responsibility to maintain the boat and not hers. The food was partly expired, frozen, and despite us being vegetarians, included meat. Because of these conditions (especially the mold) we couldn't stay and don't recommend it.

The food provided is generally frozen, it's recommend buy your own fresh vegetables or taking the initiative to request other food options. Otherwise, frozen meals it is . Make sure to bring warm clothing, including thick jackets in winter, as staying comfortable in the cold is essential. Heater is not quite useful in some areas at the boat and no usable toilet in boat. You need to venture outside, even in freezing weather, so it's crucial to prepare accordingly with warm clothing and waterproof shoes. Work is good when enough people to cover your off days otherwise won't be able to get off.

This experience is a unique one! I was able to see the countryside of the Netherlands while helping Annick with tasks. The tasks weren't overly overwhelming, which made my stay feel stress-free! After you completed your agreed-upon hours, you were free to do whatever, so I would go to Oude Pekela and explore! Overall, I felt like I had a lot of time to myself while being surrounded by nature, which was really calming.

Adding to Julia's comment, despite the initial surprise due to communication issues regarding the volunteer work being in a different location, things adapted well, and the people there were amazing. Silvana and Shawna guided us and made the experience fun and enjoyable. Cees, our actual host, was kind, cheerful, and always there when we needed him. We've made lifelong friendships. I believe that's why Annick trusted to send us there without worry. In the end, it was an incredible experience that we'll carry with us for life. We believe it was a great choice for a first volunteer experience.

We didn't go to the camping, but to the Pieterburen farm. Since the photos in Anick's positions are mixed up, we were unsure about what the place was really like. When we arrived, we found out that the property was no longer hers, as she had sold it, and we wouldn't be in contact with her—something she never mentioned. Fortunately, the people there were welcoming and spoke highly of Anick. We met her son, who was nice, and I believe that if we needed help, she would have been available. However, she should close the farm position, improve communication, and update the photos.
