I feel very positive about my experience, but at the beginning it was difficult. Living conditions are very basic, but that's not a problem. The hardest part was my integration with the two young teachers. They didn't let me do much and spoke almost exclusively in Khmer, which was isolating. When the new manager arrived, I was able to da lot more! The children were very endearing, I teached a few classes on my own, which I really enjoyed! I think I haven't be lucky with the colleagues I've come across. It could be good to raise awareness for trainees about international volunteers.

An interesting and eye opening experience. I enjoyed supporting the students with their English studies and learning about their lives. They were excited to be able to speak with me to practice. AHHAs mission is one I fully support and I believe they are doing great work throughout their centres. However the conditions at this centre (Kandal) were not what I expected and I did leave early due to illness. No shower, no properly working toilet, no cleaning products, no bed, no internet access. Many mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants and crickets. Changes could be made for future volunteers.

I was planning to spend 3 weeks however due to unforeseen circumstances I ended up doing only one week. Peter was really great and flexible. The team in Takeo are wonderful and very kind. Students are eager to learn and the project is really contributing to real positive impact.

I was in Ou Chum Ratanakiri province. The administration & arrangements through Peter in Phnom Penh were good. The head teacher/manager Panha works incredibly hard in both teaching and running the school. All the teachers are very competent, open to new ideas and easy to get along with. I also learned from them, English grammar for sure as well as some teaching practices. The students are endearing, from the 4 year old to the teenagers. For me, the greatest reward was in working with the students, both 1 - on 1 and in teaching classes and seeing their learning & development.

Volunteering here has been an incredibly enriching experience! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a warm and supportive family environment. The team's commitment to their mission of empowering underserved youth through the organization is truly inspiring, and their passion shines through in everything they do. The immersive experience provided me with valuable insights into Cambodian culture and allowed me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students. My only warning is to be prepared for basic conditions, which you may not be used to! Just remain open minded and patient :)

Volunteering at the organization feels like being part of a huge family. The students are very respectful, friendly and diligent, and all of the staff were very accommodating. The work was very flexible and they allowed me to contribute to a range of different projects within the school. If you want to learn and experience another side of life, then here is a great place to start!

I really enjoyed my time at the organization school. You can learn a lot about the culture, as you are living on the school ground together with the teachers and local volunteers. My main tasks revolved around the conputer lab. They always had little projects to take care of apart from teaching, I fixed computers. I was also teaching classes about internet, and if needed I supported english classes. The host was pretty flexible with the working hours. The accomodation and food was very basic, but okay for my duration of stay.

We are so grateful for the delightful month we spent volunteering at this NGO school. We got on really well with all the staff and students here and felt very welcomed. We had a lot of fun interacting and playing sports with the students, who were always looking to practice their English skills and involve us. We also learned a lot about the Khmer culture and tried some of the delicious local dishes and foods. Definitely recommend this exciting and rewarding opportunity!

We had a wonderful month volunteering at the organization. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful whenever we had any questions. The students were lovely, always eager to practice their English with us and teach us about Khmer (Cambodian) culture. The Khmer meals were always very tasty and they were very accommodating to vegetarian requirements, and we enjoyed joining in with some of the activities and sports that the students would play. A truly enriching and fulfilling experience.
