Volunteering at Buddhist Centre

My experience was perfect, I wouldn't change anything! The place is amazing, around 45 min walk from the Ulverston train station and the nearest market shop is 25 min from the castle. The surroundings are full of nature (forest, lake and beach it's just 5 min walk). I worked taking care of the castle (household) and working hours were respected. Everyday we could join to the project, learn more about Buddhism and talk to people from all over the world. I highly recommend this experience, because if you're willing it can be very transformative, just as it was for me.

My time at the project was very special. What an incredible place to volunteer! I met so many amazing people from all over the world and made some of the best friendships. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. You can also attend the meditations and courses to learn about Buddhism. They respect work hours and breaks very well. I'm very grateful to Thourya, my supervisor, for her trust, kindness, care and sweet words before I left. I would highly recommend this magical place! I have never felt as much love from an entire group as I felt here.

It really was one of my best experiences. I met loved, amazing, friendly and nice people. All they are in my hearth. I never wont forget those 30 days at the project Center.

I really enjoyed my stay at Manjushuri the project. I met some awesome people from all over the world which was great. There are so many other volunteers around who are very likely to be in a somewhat similar position to yourself! In my short two weeks I spent time volunteering in the kitchen, art studio and cafe. It is easy enough to switch positions if the one you're placed on does not quite suit you. Food is really good!! Ulverston as a town is cute and fun. Karaoke on Thursday night is a favourite.

It's a job like any other you will do. With breaks throughout the day. Overall the place is very pleasant and I didn't suffer from the food (as I thought I would). I recommend it, I stayed at HouseHold and in general you just hope to end up with a good trio or foursome. I recommend the project because I was already part of it in my country (Brasil)! :) Take a free day to walk through the forest, it's incredible. Foi minha primeira experiência com voluntariado e gostei bastante.

It was my first my volunteering and I never wanted to leave it. It was difficult to do not attach with the people and enviroment. I really enjoyed a lot and learn a lot about the project and mindfulness and how Budhist life can be very interesting and respectfull decision to follow up and keep it. I was working in kitchen with Odro and it was amazing experience learning on how to prepare meals for hundred people, I developed more skills to cook and helping on preparing food from India, Greece, Italy and of course UK. All people: volunteers, residente and Budhist and very kind and lovely. 10/10

The place is really beautiful, I enjoyed the castle, the surroundings and the veggie food! I could learn about Buddhism, meditate, connect with people for all over the world. I worked in the kitchen, and it was out of my comfort zone, so at the beginning was challenging but then it was better. My Work-Time was always respected and the team in the kitchen was nice :) I had the weekend always free. I recommend this place to learn about yourself, about others and about life! It's a safe space where you can meet beautiful people :) If you go in winter, have proper clothes and pijama!
