Mi esposa y yo estuvimos una semana en la ecovila. Fue grandioso compartir con la Familias Tai que colaboran con Lele. El proyecto de la comunidad sostenible la ecovila, basado en los principios de la permacultura, tiene un concepto prometedor. Sin embargo, presenta deficiencias en la coordinación y carece de suficientes miembros activos. Es crucial establecer directrices claras para los voluntarios, quienes desempeñan un papel vital en mantener el proyecto activo. Con una mejor coordinación y una mayor participación, la ecovila podría convertirse en un modelo exitoso de sostenibilidad.

Garaawe puede convertirse en un proyecto grandioso, lamentable como nos comentó Lele la pandemia los afectó fuertemente . Durante nuestra estadía no habían muchas personas, por lo que se hace muy difícil mantener una comunidad de esta forma. Hay familias Thai que están trabajando y apoyando a Lele, fue grandioso compartir con ellos y aprender un poco más de su cultura 😃 Particularmente, me hubiese gustado que las tareas no fueses opcionales, mi objetivo de hacer voluntariado es poder aprender y tener nuevas experiencias, y al no tener claras las tareas y los horarios se hizo complicado.

Unfortunately i cannot recommend this experience. I ended up leaving early because it was not as described. When i was there, they trial ran families and it felt more of a tourist place than permaculture farm. Also the farm has been running for years and only now have they started growing vegetables. It was barely permaculture. Furthermore the Italian man who runs it only really speaks to the Italian volunteers. Khao Sok is such a lovely place and the other volunteers were lovely.

As soon as you arrived you said you would stay for a few days and then come back later!
So you've put yourself in the shadows without even being interested in participating.
You said you would come back and we confirmed the hut again, then you cancelled.
For you it was an opportunity to learn an extraordinary language like the Italian language, but I also speak minimally various languages, this can be learned if you wish.
In any case, we listen to criticism and try to organize ourselves to change communication.
Learn one thing in permaculture you don't run away from problems they solve them.
Another lesson: permaculture is not just vegetable gardens, if you stayed you could ask questions and learn, you preferred to stay on the internet for the entire short period.
You are always welcome to start your experience as I have already written.
To judge you need to be part of it. You have postponed your participation.

I enjoyed my stay at Gaarawé. It was my first ever volunteering experience. The work was easy, but sweaty because of the heat and that's why we usely worked in the morning after breakfast. I slept in a spacious hut made out of bamboo. At Gaarawé Village you can do permaculture and be surrounded by lovely people in a peacefull place. I would defenitely come back next time I am in Thailand. I had a great time, thank you! See you soon. 💖

I had lots of fun at Gaarawé! Lele invited me to his birthday party so I had a perfect start. I was warmly welcomed by Lele, Seen, E-Nice and all the other amazing volunteers I met there. The days off were great, we explored the beautiful nature around Gaarawé and in the evenings we were either sitting around the fire, watching films or playing cards. The work, however, was quite demanding physically and mentally. The heat is exhausting and if you freak out (like me) when a massive spider is suddenly on your leg, maybe it's not the right place for you. Still, I'd love to come back one day!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this experience for everyone. Lele is a very caring host but when it comes down to volunteering there is little structure and communicating can be difficult. There was no permaculture course provided.

Lindsey's comment deserves my respect.
During your stay we had a guest who had a moped accident and many plans changed. I no ask sorry for that!
There were other volunteers with Lindsey, unfortunately only she was interested in learning and doing, the others were avid all week looking for discounts for tours, a bit of work, playing, building a bamboo hut and spending the rest of the time on the phone. It happens unfortunately.
Now there is new air in the village, children playing, and volunteers who want to participate, play together, in the evening we dance with the fire and the moon and people ask to stay longer. lele is always the same.
Lindsey, you must return here one day and I hope to give you the experience you expected. You deserve it.

Lindsey, permaculture has always been everywhere here, just look. Thai cooking course, course on how to learn how to make preserved foods, the days after you left if you stayed we made vegetable gardens and compost, all here is permaculture.
Timothy has ruined the experience of many people here and has made it clear that there is no permaculture course here. A guy who has problems, I'm sorry, but you don't have to repeat the sentence because this thing is absolutely not true. I had the pleasure of being at your side with you and you were perfect in your role.
The last Permaculture lesson Lindsey, the permaculturist solves problems, running away, leaving is a failure if you want to be a person who wants to do permaculture.
Your advice is true and useful, we have already changed many settings but we still need to improve.

My time at the project was filled with not only beautiful people but engaging work, learning opportunities, culture and lots and lots of nature. The land the project resides on in itself is something surreal. My little hut quickly became my home. And Lele became a friend and guide. This was a special experience. Also shout out to Ceen (a local thai girl) who is the best cook and friend - also very very funny. She taught me and everyone else so much about thai culture with kindness and once again lots of humour.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience with Worldpackers! I felt extremely welcomed and it was a perfect combination of learning, working and fun. I would definitely recommend this experience for a chance to connect with the locals of Thailand and learn about permaculture!!!

I had such a blast at the project, Lele was such a wonderful host. He is a very sweet and caring man who will call you a terrorist if you make a mistake but then give you a comforting pat and a hug. The work was very diverse as we did a lot of gardening work as well as fixing huts and building things like chairs, ladders, tables, etc.. It was super fun to work and build with bamboo and learn about how to sustainably live.
