Fue mi 1er voluntariado el lugar es lo que esperas un trabajo un poco exigente, pintar y reparar el techo, regar los árboles no fue fácil por el sol. El proyecto está muy cool, Deon siempre fue muy respetuoso y amable y Gerda cocina INCREÍBLE! No fue mi mejor experiencia por el host Kobus, espera demasiado y estamos aprendiendo, no da muy clara las indicaciones, lo peor es la forma en que comunica las cosas si está descontento con algo, de manera sarcástica como si uno fuera un niño, es una falta de respeto. Pero estoy muy agradecido con la experiencia y la oportunidad.

A successful and fulfilling volunteer experience on our project requires the volunteer to be able, capable and willing to perform the tasks to an acceptable standard.
We unfortunately find 1 in every 25 volunteers visiting the project not to be able, capable and willing to perform the tasks related to our nature reserve, and we therefore ask them to leave and find other projects within their capabilities or liking.
I have asked you to leave the project after you expressed " I do not think I will be able to do it" when after three days of you watering trees (and me realizing that something went wrong), I reiterated the importance of watering each plant for 2 minutes at a time (30 trees per hour - 140 trees per shift) while also removing the weeds and grass at the base of the small tree that you are watering.
The target is 140 trees effectively watered trees per shift per volunteer, without wasting water (water is a precious resource) in order to sustain the total number of trees planted on the project.

It was very nice to be with such a loving family. The tasks are, for example, watering trees, planting, cutting grass, collecting chicken eggs, everything is very relaxing and rewarding to help them with their project. I hope to see you again soon and taste Gerda's exquisite meals again.

Engaging in my first volunteering experience was truly enjoyable. I gained valuable knowledge about nature, plants, and Panama, and I am definitely planning to return. While the work was challenging, the reward came in the form of delicious and nutritious meals. Thank you for the wonderful time.

I feel happy, lucky and thankfull for my time here and everything I've learnt. Deon, Gerda and Kobus are really good people that make this place, full of nature and life, feels like home. It's been a pleasure getting to know their amazing project and colaborate as a volunteer on it. Besides, I could share it with other great volunteers, Helena, Shany and Trevor and enjoy Santa Catalina! I will remember it with love and will miss the good food, the calm of the surrounding nature, the reconforting work, the nonstop learning, the drives to town and the day to day there. Hello!!! amazing volunteering at the reserve. I was impressed by the awareness and effort that Kobus, Gerda and Deon make every day to try to return their property and the environment to the natural ecosystem it once had. We collaborate in cutting grass, planting trees, feeding chickens, construction...all in an excellent environment of awareness and respect for nature. Trevor, from California, was an excellent fellow Volunteer as well. thanks a lot!

The stay in Jungle Cabins has been very interesting. I've done things I've never done. In other words, it has been all learning for me. It also helped me a lot to practice English since none of the three people who are here speak Spanish. Thank you Kobus, Gerda and Deon for receiving us and thanks for the food!!

Incredible experience at the jungle cabin close to Santa Catalina and the incredible coiba national park. I definitely recommend this volunteering opportunity to everyone eager to learn new things related to working with your hands / building / gardening / local fauna and flora. Kobus, Gerda & Deon are incredibly commited and very clear with work schedule and expected tasks. Somedays the work can get really physical (depending on your abilities of course) so don't expect to be chilling all the time during your working hours ! But it's'definitely rewarding. Thank you again for everything !

Thank you very much for te experience! The place is really nice. Kobus, Deon and Gerda are very kind and friendly. They will try you to learn about the place and the animals, which is very important to understand the project. Everything is like in the website and the photos provided. They are doing an interesting work of reforesting and giving back to nature what is hers. I will recommend it!

Ha sido una reconfortante experiencia en la reserva. He encontrado un espacio y un tiempo fantástico en el que conectar con la naturaleza y entregarme desde la calma y el trabajo a su efecto revitalizante. El trabajo requiere esfuerzo y disposición. Es un proyecto que a mí me resulta esperanzador por la facilidad con la que puedes observar cómo opera la naturaleza cuando apenas le das su espacio y tiempo, pero hay que trabajar con energía para avanzar en la recuperación de la zona. Los anfitriones son personas respetuosas y diligentes. Se come muy bien. Salgo mi satisfecho de mi experiencia

Es un lugar lindo, para aprender de la naturaleza, todos son muy trabajadores y están enfocados en sus objetivos en la finca, la comida es riquísima (con suerte pruebas uno de los postres que hace Gerda) , Kobus es un excelente portador de información y puede explicarte todo lo que quieras saber de los árboles, insectos, plantas, etc y Deon es muy bien líder, sabe exactamente qué tarea poner a cada uno de los voluntarios, siempre poniendo el ejemplo y abierto a enseñarte. ✨
