Sovannarith and his family showed incredible hospitality cooking three very high quality meals a day. the village is remote but everyone is friendly and it is very rewarding teaching the children English in the hopes of changing their lives. Sovannarith has made a clean, free water station for the whole village which is important when it comes to health as before the village did not have access to clean water. Teaching was spread out through the day which meant you could go for walks and interact with the other people who live in the village.

My partner and I had an incredible time here in Sovann's village. We worked about 4-5 hours each day with classes spreadout between the morning and afternoon/evening. He gives you workbooks to teach the kids and how you decide to do it is up to you, so we had fun figuring out what worked best with all of our personalities. We ate plenty of food and Sovann really welcomed us into his home and made us feel comfortable. The bedroom gets quite hot so beware of that, but there are fans a fridge to keep waters. I would love to come back here and see Sovann and the kids! Thank you for everything!!

I wish I could have stayed longer! Sovannarith and his family were gracious and welcoming. There were lots of cats and dogs who liked to hang out in the front of the house, and I think it's because they can tell they will be well taken care of at Sovann's. I loved spending time teaching the kids, and learned a lot about local culture through the experience. I would recommend this to anyone hoping to learn more about themselves through teaching, and about Cambodian culture!

An amazing experience to connect to a local community and support the kids. You will be staying in the hosts home with basic living conditions. If you are fine with this, then you will have a great time with the kids. They are the best & the host family are all so lovely too! I did expect the host to communicate the tasks to me. There were a few volunteers there, so I ended up asking them. There are 2 class groups (A & B) with classes in the morning & late afternoon. It was nice having other volunteers there to pass the time or share tuk tuk journeys to centre, the location is a bit isolating!

Sorry for that case. At that time, as I told you that I was taking other volunteers for a tour at Angkor Wat. That's why I couldn't reach you on time.
Usually, when new volunteers arrived, have to join other volunteers and the lessons will be explained by volunteers what pages and what lessons are in different classes.
Hope this is not a problem 😁🙏❤️🙏

Overall we had a rewarding time volunteering at CLO - the key being we had a fantastic group to work alongside (8 of us total), great for work sharing and made downtime more fun (daily walk to bubble tea 20 mins away!). Sovannarith and his wife Ol were very accommodating of my partner & I being vegan - providing veggie and rice based lunches and dinner as well as fresh fried delights from the local market for brekky. The location without access to bicycles is quite isolating and accommodation is very rustic, walking is not permitted near any temple grounds so be careful to avoid big $ fines.

Really loved my time teaching, the children are really sweet and felt so so rewarding! Sovannarith/family are welcoming, we had a few house rule issues settling in but these were resolved. They managed to accommodate us as vegans with local fried food for breakfast, and rice and a selection of veggies for lunch and dinner. Clean water to drink and for the village. Facilities are quite rustic and there were no bikes available- a little isolating unless you get a tuktuk. Paid tours are offered during weekends. There was 8 volunteers when I stayed splitting the workload and made downtime more fun

Hey Josh! Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s awesome to hear that you loved teaching and found it so rewarding. The kids really do have a way of making every day special! Glad our family made you feel welcome.

Though, the village life can feel a bit isolated without bikes, the tuk-tuks and weekend tours help! Sounds like you had a great crew of volunteers to share the workload and the fun—makes all the difference. Thanks again for joining us.

I stayed for a month and taught Korean and English. It was such a precious and happy time. Sovannarith and his family are very nice and lovely. The students gave me generous love. And I was able to have many unforgettable experiences. I appreciate all of these. If I have a chance, I really want to meet again. 🥰

Thank you so much Su 김 for your kindness and support our school. We do our best to keep our stay open for free education to our poor children in Lolei Community.
Without volunteers and your helps, I could not do this job alone. I really appreciate your support and kindness.
You are really kind, respectful, well-prepared, punctual, hard working and friendly. All the students wish you could come back in the future.

We love you all and best wishes to you and your family.

Sending love to everyone there,

Sovannarith, family and students

I had an amazing week volunteering teaching English with the organization. Sovannarith and his family are doing amazing work for the kids in the area providing free education in English and Chinese which guarantees them a very bright future in employment. It's purely donation based so they are offering this out of kindness and receiving nothing in return. It's truly inspiring to be a part of. If you have a week to spare on your time in Cambodia, I would highly recommend spending time here. Sovannarith and his family are very welcoming.
