For me, staying at the guest house was a good first volunteering experience. Sandra and Marcel are good, down-to-earth people that gave me a warm welcome in Baleal. They made sure I was always updated about what was happening in the surfhouse and they were reacting fast to my questions. I learned that I like to garden and Sandra made sure that I could work in the garden when the hosting tasks were done. I did miss having people around me sometimes, but this is something personal that doesn't have to change at the guest house. Lastly, I could always take a board to go surfing in my free time: amazing!

My experience was amazing and I felt really sad when it was time to leave the guest house. From the begginning I felt accepted and my work was valued. Sandra and Marcel would always check up on me, help me with anything I need whether its work related or not, and the trust was mutual. My daily routine was: morning work, midday break for lunch/errands/suntanning on a super nearby beach, afternoon work, surf, and then dinner with lovely guests i would meet in the camp. When the weather was not suitable for surfing i had plenty of time to explore Baleal, the guest house, surrounding towns and do surf lessons.
