The Two months I spent at the hostel have been more than just a hostel stay; it's been my family. From all the many activities we did together, like karaoke night, braai night, city tours, and more. I made friends from all over the world and we shared laughter, stories, and food. I especially enjoyed the pap and chicken dust, a local delicacy. I want to thank Sanele, Faith, Cathy, Zoe, Marvin, Bontle, Amahle, Steve, Tabiso, Camagu, Thepo, and Noni for making me feel at home and for being the best hosts ever. You guys are awesome and I hope to see you again soon. Ngiyabonga!

They tried to work me full-time, but I only signed up for part-time hours. I told them I can only work part-time. On my last day, Marvin tried to verbally berate me for not attending a last-minute meeting held outside of my previously agreed upon hours. When I asked him (again) to respect my hours, he walked away without listening to me and asked me to leave. Marvin (the volunteer coordinator) is a poor communicator who showed no respect for me. He shamed me for standing up for myself. Unfortunately this created a toxic environment that I happily left early.
