I had a really good experience at Kawa the home !Mun and Aafeeq were really welcoming. This is a really relaxed place, in the middle of the rice fields so if you want a chill environment this is it! The work hours are 100% respected and the schedule is very flexible. The only thing I would say is that I did not do the tasks I was supposed to. I did gardening (which was alright) but barely any bartending or barista duties.

My experience at the home was disappointing! The place is nice and the view all around is beautiful, but it's quite far from the city centre and Grab doesn't work well so be careful! Natalie is lovely, she helped me many times and always took care of me making sure I was eating enough! Mun, left after 4 days after my arrival and left me, Nat and another volunteer running the place alone, it wasn't hard because he tried to have just a few guests, but I think it's a weird thing to do! He had many strange behaviour, was always talking bad about the other volunteers at their back and he said

Thank you for your kind review, i did my best to accomandate 4 of you at my best.at my place, as its mentioned before its a shared room 3-4 female volunteer , basic fan room with outside toilet. Maybe you forget before you accept to be a volunteer at my place. . if you looking for fancy , you should apply work in hotel.

Im not sure about gossiping but i its team meeting which i have to give feedback about each of you. the most funny part is i was there before i have to leave 4 of you before head to KL , and all was good .. And you forget to write , before i left all of you i upgrade each of you to a private aircon room all 4 of you which i have to close 2 room just to make all of you are happy and confortable . Free laundary, upgrade to private room (due to hot heat waze), less work because low seasson ( still i accept you and others .) and you disappointed .

I think that the price for me to accept you and unexperinces volunteer .
A person like you are killing others good host in this island .
All the best and safe trip

Pros: - beautiful location - meet amazing locals and travellers - free breakfast - host takes you to eat for the first couple days - work is simple and easy. Just 3-5 hours a day Cons: - host gossips a lot about other volunteers and personal issues - the dorms are very hot, but maybe he will allow you to sleep in a room with AC if there is availability - remote location so it is hard to get grabs late at night

Overall my experience was ok, despite being unwell most of my time being there, Mun was very understanding and let me rest and recover! The working hours are very flexible and the work is very laid back. I didn't really get to be sociable with a lot of people since I was the only volunteer for most of my time there, be aware that there is no air conditioning in volunteer accommodation but host was thoughtful and offered a more comfortable stay whenever was available! I got a lot of free time that I could go and discover the beautiful island, overall Mun is a good/friendly host for guests!

The tasks were simple and I worked less than 5 h/day. Zul and Ena were the nicest but they won't be running the place anymore. I was a bit disappointed and shocked at the end of my stay, as another volunteer and I had to look after the guest house on our own because Mun had returned to KL. I wasn't really given any warning and I don't find that very respectful, given that we're only volunteers. Also weird and illegal things happened which forces us to leave earlier, Mun was aware of the situation and didn't warn us, which was dangerous for female foreigners. Message me for more

Thanks Julia for your review / references.
well somehow i have to put a feedback related to you and your friends bente review/ references.

As i to defend of your statement. As you know the places was temporary run temporary by a caretaker whom name Zul and Ena, Yes i agreed their run well and good, and their doing a superb good job , but since August - December 2024 theres few situation happened and involved which i cannot disclose the matter here, So i have to reshuffle and terminate to unsure we are on right track and making profit. How im going to run a business if im on losing amount , and those people given their due date to leave the places, the only thing happened when i went back to Kuala Lumpur, Mr Zul and Ena left the places on last minute,

At the funny part i told you and another volunteer i will have someone to be arrive and monitor while i be away for just 4 days ( of course when im back to my place, all of you left the places un professionally).

About your accusation illegal activities, are you related to a private room whom have i have a guest whom receiving multiple guest ?
Do you ever run a homestay , guesthouse or hotel ?
Do you know we cannot assume any situation on their personal matter ?
As long theres no harm and dangerous which are related to Heavy Drugs, i cant simply kick out my guest base on assume she had someone coming and visit her.
And theres no complaint from others guest whom check in beside of her room .

so these is my explanation as neutral ground toward your review and references.

On top of it, as i want to lets others knew both of you and bente had a bad experiences with others host before you arrive at my place, and still i take decision to accept both of you at my places , which now i leave full of wonder what the real story happened while you volunteering before in Thailand ?

Anyhow, as A professional host, i wish you and her friends best of luck.
As far i knew both you did a good job, but somehow you both just caught
& involve with wrong understanding between me as owner with the previous caretaker ( person incharge) .

Since Jan/2024 , im fully inchage in Langkawi and having 3 female volunteer are doing well, and felt safe .

Hi! So my stay there was amazing, but what went down after I left was kinda weird. There were super lovely people in the staff which made my stay incredible. But I don't know who runs the place now, because the host made the two leave. Also some scetchy stuff was going on right after they left… the volunteers who stayed longer than I left immediately because they felt unsafe! I can't tell how it is now but I wouldn't really recommend… the host seems to have an interesting style of running the place.Working hours were nice though, lots of time to get to know the island. Message me for more :)

Hi Bente, thank you so much for your comment after more than 2 week you left our place, Im not sure what to write to you as comment.Overall your work is fine, and i only manage to saw your volunteering for only 4 days, the rest was under the old management. I think your comment is unfair when you dont know the whole story and fact, you only heard on 1 side of story, and commented about others experiences not related to you, i also think having a regret having you when i already saw you had 1 negative experiences by others host in Thailand before you come over and volunteering my place. As on 12.jan 2024, i had 2 female volunteer here and all goes well,. I wish you all the best on your trip and knows a real fact before write a personal comment.

Wooow. I love the home Paddy. From the minute I arrived, I felt at home. Home away from home. Ena and Zul are amazing, I don't even have enough words to describe them. Mun was always looking out for everyone, he even gave us the day off at Christmas. The place is so relaxing and if you want to explore the Island, you can take a bicycle or a motorbike (they are free for volunteers). Work hours and days off are respected. I learned a lot about Malay culture and I already miss everyone!

Absolutely amazing experience. The island is really beautiful, especially if you stay away from busy touristy areas. the home — the best place for it. You can observe sunrises, sunsets, eat your oatmeal breakfast with the best view. Task were pretty simple with no time pressure at all! I was surrounded with a lot of love, care and positivity from our hosts. Zul&Anna super funny and creative personalities, was so interesting to become a part of their family for a bit 🫶🏻 one of the highlights was definitely an opportunity to use one bike from villa, thank you a lot for it! Overall: 10/10

Un luogo immerso nella natura, gestito da persone meravigliose! Ottima esperienza di volontariato, vi sentirete come a casa 🥰

This experience was amazing the work is quite easy and you have lots of free time to explore the island. The hosts Zul, Ena and Mun are so welcoming and really make you feel like part of the family. I already miss the family meals Ena would make and getting to try a lot of local food. It was a great experience that I would definitely recommend.
