Help in our familiar hostel in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica!

The surrounding area is very beautiful and the hostel it self is also very cosy and inviting. Only the room for the volunteers isn't the nicest. It was covered in mould and there isn't much air coming into the room. The owners are nice but sometimes I felt pretty left alone to figure things out, especially in the beginning. However the work you do is pretty easy I'd say. The shifts are not to long but sometimes I'd have to stay much longer than agreed up on. During my time there I'd have to work a couple of extra hours. I didn't get any credit for staying multiple hours longer.

The hostel was my first worldpackers experience and I immideately felt welcomed there. The hostel is named „family“ for a reason. You become part of an amazing community, where you meet amazing volunteers, and travellers as well. I absolutely enjoyed my stay! The work is pretty chill and you have much time to explore the beautiful puerto viejo!

I highly recommend to volunteer at the hostel. From minute one they have made me feel part of their family and I have been really comfortable in there. The work as a volunteer is not difficult and they are there to help you with whatever you need

I had such a wonderful time in Puerto Viejo with the hostel team. The work itself was very relaxed, straight forward and involved a lot of socialising / helping guests which was very enjoyable. I met some of the best people on my travels here, including Chantal, Claire and my fellow volunteers. The hostel is very cosy and felt like home very quickly, and the location is amazing with beautiful beaches and food very close by. It was so much fun exploring with the free bike. I highly recommend volunteering here to any socialable and easy going person who enjoys the beach and nature.

El hostel es un lugar muy lindo y tranquilo, y es una buena opción para hacer un voluntariado. Aparte puerto viejo es un pueblito súper caribeño con varias cosas para disfrutar. Chantal y Claire Quienes coordinan el hostel siempre fueron buenas, solidarias y flexibles conmigo, fueron buenas hosts. Mis primeros días fueron muy lindos, pero lamentablemente tuve que volver antes de lo previsto porque enfermé fuertemente de dengue, recomiendo estar muy atento con eso porque es común en esa zona. Fuera de eso, todo fue muy Tranquilo y Disfrutable.

The hostel was genuinely life changing. The space is so welcoming and filled with compassionate loving staff and volunteers. If you're looking for a home away from home you'll find it here. Chantal and Claire are so lovely and take the time to make sure you're comfortable with the space and the working responsibilities. Puerto is a pretty small place so you'll get to know the community very well. I especially suggest applying here if you have experience in social media because there is room to grow the social profiles. The hostel puppy Jamie is the sweetest ever and I'll miss him so much.

The hostel… where to begin? This was truly the most beautiful and loving experience I have had. Being my first world packers experience, I felt immediately welcomed by the girls who soon became my family. The work is not difficult, and I managed to work on the daily tasks at the same time as being a full time online student through my University. The owner, Chantal, and the manager, Claire, are two of the sweetest people you will meet and made working fun. There is much more to say for sure, but for now, I love you the hostel and I hope to return! :) 💛
