Potato lovers required help in our potato farm-hotel

Wasn't given tour by the owner with whom I spoke online until asked. Work isn't explained until asked. Description online is not accurate. I signed up to be volunteer in the garden. With the pictures online was led to believe there would be work harvesting and preparing potatoes. However, there is not a garden there and hasn't been one for years. Living quarters were substandard (mold, mildew, standing water in shower, dirty beds, leftover food on tables) Expected be part of an organized team and experience the hostel culture while helping accomplish goal. Worked alone pulled weeds from sidewalk.

You were with us for exactly two days. You didn't even bother to get to know us and your tasks. You didn't particularly like us or your work and you showed us that clearly. You were rude and arrogant. You didn't finish your work, you left work early without asking and you didn't even put your tools away properly. You didn't enjoy your tasks at all and weren't interested in them either. You can't rate us at all (thanks for your two stars) because you didn't bother to get to know us at all. You just ran away, only lasted two days and didn't even say goodbye. Of course, a Worldpackers internship is also there to learn that a Worldpackers internship is not your thing. But please don't blame us for this. We have been doing the job for over 30 years with many happy interns and trainees. I discussed your criticism of making the tour on the first day even more extensive with the team and we will implement it that way. I wish you many more experiences, because that's exactly what Worldpackers & Co is there for :-)

The staff is really welcoming the people who work there are all really nice, they give you a nice room to stay in, you can use the Sauna and the bikes, also the hostel class is very useful and the teacher is committed to your learning. The hotel often has organization problems, sometimes leading to over hours (they give you hours later), work without proper equipment, sudden changes in schedule and even heavy workload at times. Also even though it includes 3 meals, at times when there's no guests, we wouldn't always get proper breakfast or lunch.

Hello Selene, we find your review rude and dishonest. You were shocked that work and winter in Germany felt unpleasant. That's exactly what an internship and a trip abroad is intended for - to gain new experiences. You have now worked for the first time in your life (we don't want to talk about the quality of your work here - it just wasn't good) and you have now realized that work is tiring. And you now know that a winter in Germany feels different than in your home country. But instead of growing through your new experiences, you decided to end your internship early and go into the city to party. And as a parting gift you left us a bad review full of lies and untruths. There was enough to eat every day, some weeks you didn't even work the 30 hours you wanted, but rather 25 and even just 20 hours. And there were also enough work gloves. Please change your behavior in the future then it will be even better for you and for your hosts and future colleagues.

I would give this host 3.5 stars I loved meeting all the new people, especially the other volunteers and I loved Lübeln. It is a very peaceful village. Positive: comfortable room, bikes, free drinks, food, sauna, working hours were mostly respected. Keep in mind: no garden right now and therefore no gardening (rather work as a handyman), sometimes no proper work equipment (e.g. waterproof gloves - ask the host what you have to bring with you), sometimes no explanations or vague/unclear instructions (so: ask again and ask multiple people), sometimes no proper organization (can be confusing)

Hello Antonia, we find your review rude and dishonest. You were shocked that work and working outside in winter in Germany can feel uncomfortable. That's exactly what an internship and a trip are intended for - to gain new experiences. You have now worked for the first time in your life (we don't want to talk about the quality of your work here) and you have now realized that work is tiring. And you now know that working outside in the winter can feel uncomfortable. But instead of growing through your new experiences, you decided to end your internship early and go into the city to make party. And as a parting gift you left us a bad review full of lies and untruths. The tasks were well explained and checked again and again, often by me personally as the boss. And there were also enough work gloves. Practical work was apparently completely new to you, but that's exactly what an internship is for. Take on new tasks and grow from them. I find your behavior a total shame.

I had a great experience being here! All the staff, the volunteers and guests are lovely and always willing to help you. The tasks are easy, I really enjoyed my time in the kitchen with Andrea and Dagmar. The food is good and the accommodation is really nice as well. Thank you for this opportunity, I wish you the best!

I had an excellent experience at Kartoffel-hotel. The unique and beautiful location provided a peaceful escape from the city. The host and workers were always available to answer questions. I felt welcomed and recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to learn about the country, language, and culture. It's easy to visit larger cities on free days with a Deutschland ticket. The lessons I learned during my stay will stay with me for a lifetime. PS: No potato-picking for me!

I had a really great time at Kartoffel-Hotel! This is the perfect place to go if you're searching for an opportunity to learn a lot about the hospitality industry while getting in touch with nature in a quiet village. There are different tasks volunteers can carry out and the working hours are respected. It is also a great way to learn or improve your the hostel thanks to the weekly language class and the interactions with the staff and guests. Totally recommend it!

The potato hotel is definitely a place to go if you love potatoes. You will eat them for nearly every meal. The owner and staff are very nice and welcoming. This is a nice place if you want to get away from the city and remain in a very rural place. There is not much to do in the nearest small town and you would have to travel a pretty far distance to visit a city. The work is physically demanding labor. During my time I split wood, dug a trench, carried a lot of felled trees and so forth. It is a great way to learn and work on your the hostel and build muscle.
