Help at a small hostel in Bar, Montenegro

O hostel está situado próximo a supermercados, a estação de trem e ônibus, a uma padaria e outros comércios locais. Trabalhei como voluntária durante um mês e uma semana e a experiência foi realmente muito boa. Os horários de trabalho são intercalados com os de outros voluntários e a comunicação com Emre é fluída e objetiva. As tarefas são, basicamente, estar na recepção recebendo os novos hóspedes e manter e áreas em comum e quartos limpos e organizados. Recomendo especialmente para mulheres viajantes solo, pela segurança local e pelo respeito com que Emre nos trata. Obrigada Emre!

Positivos: reuniões para organizar escala de trabalho, faziamos a lista de compras no mercado, mercados e pontos de ônibus próximos. Negativos: anfitrião prefere apenas inglês (mesmo entre voluntários/hóspedes), pedidos para cobrar hospedes fora do horário de trabalho alegando "mas a pessoa está no mesmo quarto que você". Você decide: praia boa a 45min a pé, anfitrião metódico e não aberto a sugestões para melhorar o trabalho dos voluntarios. A falta de ética profissional ao corrigir, tom rispido e depois guerra de silêncio foi um dos motivos de eu finalizar minha estadia antes do previsto.

BAR é o nome da cidade. Isso pode confundir alguns voluntários pensando que vai se voluntáriar em um hostel onde funciona um bar/pub também. O Hostel é literalmente uma casa e quem administra é o próprio dono que também mora no hostel. O hostel fica próximo da estação de ônibus e da estação de trem, mas fica a uns 30 minutos caminhando da praia, mas tem opção de ônibus local e a passagem é barata. Tem até bastante opção de mercado. Eu recomendo esse hostel para quem quer descansar, pois o trabalho é simples, fácil, pouco e muito silencioso. Não recomendo para quem não fala inglês.

Volunteering at the hostel was a great experience overall. Everything was as described and I got to feel it like home. Had the chance of meeting the other volunteers and spend time together and this made it richer and fun. Also got to meet some of the travelers too which I appreciated a lot. Emre explained all the tasks very well, gave us all the information about the place and he would provide us with everything we needed to feel comfortable. I would greatly recommend to anyone.

The hostel is very comfortable, quiet and clean! I would say it is a great place if you want to chill for a while, specially if you are a digital nomad. It is not a proper place to socialize tho. Tasks are easy and Emre will explain everything once you arrive. I stayed during the last few weeks of summer season and it was mainly 2h cleaning + 3h reception He also provided all the food we needed, twice a week, and it worked very well. It was my first experience with worldpackers, and I'm really happy I did it. The hostel is very comfortable and clean. Workload is very acceptable (I went in peak season), cleaning is normally around 2 hours and the rest is reception. You can have the rest of the day to explore the area around Bar, and on your off days, you can easily explore Montenegro since the train and bus stations are close. Communication with Emre was easy, we met every week to agree on shifts, and he bought all the food we needed. I definitely recommend this host.

Hostel Hangouts is a great place to volunteer and meet other people. Tasks are easy to learn and Emre will guide you through it the first day. He also provides lots of information and knows many things about the country and how to get around. He buys food twice a week and is always around if you need him. Thanks again for everything!!

I really enjoyed my experience at the hostel! The tasks are easy and clearly explained. You will have plenty of time to explore the surrounding towns, beaches, and national parks. Emre is a great host - flexible with schedules and full of helpful information about Montenegro and things to do in your free time. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an opportunity to enjoy coastal town life. If you are thinking about it, just apply! ☀️

I had a lovely time in Bar during my stay with the chill laid back atmosphere of the hostel. Emre was a great host, was very flexible with our schedules, respected the work hours, and provided a thorough training for our roles. You will have plenty of time to explore Bar and tbe surrounding areas with the shift schedule. Since Montenegro is quite a small country I was able to take the buses and trains to see multiple coastal cities. It was also a huge pro that all food for meals was provided; we did a shopping list twice a week so that was perfect as well. Would definitely recommend!

It was my first volunteering experience, and it will most likely remain one of the best. Bar is a place that offers you a peaceful small-town life with both its nature and sea. The hostel is small and cute, and all your needs have been considered. It's also very clean and well-organized. Emre is very attentive and puts effort into making sure volunteers have a good experience. He also gives great recommendations so you can explore Montenegro in your free time. The job is exactly as described—Emre is very respectful of the set working hours. I hope I can visit again :”)
