My time at the hotel was amazing, the hours are respected and the tasks are simple, which gives you the chance to explore the nearby large cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Lodge is a beautiful place and allowed me to meet such amazing people since fellow volunteers and the staff which can not be more welcoming, specially Gillian, our manager, who is the best ever and will be always there to help with any issue you may have. Will totally recommend this volunteering experience.

We came in at a unique time as they were only hosting Ukrainian refugees. The people here were the best! Sav (owner) welcomed us in graciously, and genuinely really loved getting to host us and Gillian (manager) was so fun to work with and so helpful with the day to day tasks. Generally, it was a more relaxed position–cleaning the bedrooms and bathrooms, doing the dishes after meals, general tidying, and the occasional night shift. Overall, we had an awesome first worldpacker experience here! Great people, cozy hotel, straightforward work and only a 30 minute train to Edinburgh city center!

The time I spent at the hotel was amazing!! Words can't describe how much I love this place. The host is incredible and makes me feel at home and always asks if I need anything from her. The work is easy and the days are very relaxing, and if you plan you can always do something during the day. The location is perfect and is right next to Edinburgh and Glasgow. I recommend this hostel to anyone going to Scotland, the host and staff are the nicest people I've met on my travels and I will definitely be coming back just for them.

My experience here was great, the host Sav is a very lovely and sweet person. Especially if you're mainly looking to explore Edinburgh or some of Scotland, this is a great chill place to be close by. 5 min walk to the train station and many bus stops. I didn't get to know many Scottish locals (as there are currently Ukrainian refugees) but they were so sweet as well. The shared dorm is rather small and the beds are a bit rough BUT there is often some availability in other rooms depending on vacancy; just tell Sav any issues you have and she's awesome about being flexible and helping you!

Making changes on shifts times in a 4 week stay requesting days off and not wanting to do shifts allocated .
Hosting was a little challenging as not come across so many requests in a short stay .

Other volunteers adapted as did other team members .
But I felt it was unfair on others
Encouraged to speak directly to hosts if any issues arise .
This experience does not suit everyone . The bikes are fixed 3 of them . Thanks for your feed beck always welcome. We wish you well in your ongoing trips

Nice 1st time. I'd lovely roomies and the hotel staff was patient w/ me til the end. My arrived coincided w/ the housekeeper's off days so it was hard to get into the routine tasks. Begun like a part time job in exchange for b&b but when the housekeeper joined back work was a collaboration to make the hotel nice. Although the hotel shown in WP's pics is different, you'll find all the facilities offered and +. Is 30' by train from center and in winter the city dies early. If you are a night person or like noise I don't recommend the town for long stays.

Hi Josephina you missed two shifts with staff members . The manager was there to show you around on your first day shift But I think you slept through this . The following shift you did not show up. Unfortunately I had an operation so was not able to spend time with you .
We do wish you well .
