The hostel has a great location and amazing vibes, we were about 20 volunteers and we were like a family . Best parties and food. Easy tasks and really good atmosphere between staff and guests. Thank you guys, love you all

My friend and I found some of the existing volunteers a little clichey and so we didn't have the most amazing social experience while staying. We had a last minute change to our plans though and the hostel was kind enough to let us leave early so that was great!

A good place for outgoing, energetic people who like the party mood. A bit disorganized when I was there, new housing being built, shifts are a bit messy, but the staff (and volunteers) make it worth it. Shoutout to Alex, one of the recepcionists. Very friendly and kind, you can see she really cares about the volunteers. Had many amazing moments in that hostel that'll take with me forever. :)

I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend the hostel to any fellow travelers. I applied for a position as bartender a couple of months in advance and confirmed twice that was still planning on coming. When I arrive I'm to know there's no need for a bartender and I'm suggested to volunteer with other tasks. As getting bar experience was the reason I was going the Cancun in the first place I to say the least disappointed. I ended up working a shift with entertaining the guest but left the same night. In honestly felt disrespectful of my time and I hope they up their communication in the future.

All of our job posts mention the fact that shifts are assigned every morning, so no specific shift is guaranteed when working at the Hostel. When a staff member or volunteer has shown flying colors on a certain shift, they earn it as a stable shift. You arrived to work two weeks on bar without experience and expected to work those two weeks (of NYE high season) on bar by yourself without knowing anything about our operations as a business? We apologize for not meeting your unrealistic expectations as a free bar-tending school, but that's just not how it works, especially not in an industry as unstable as tourism. We also had higher expectations of commitment from an older traveler like yourself and someone coming from what is generally considered country with a culture of formality and stability. I hope you give yourself the opportunity to learn something of true value next time by realizing that not everything is as "black and white" as you seem to expect them to be. - David Uribe - Hostel Kabeh
