I had a amazing time in the guest house Hostel and met many amazing people who will stay in my heart! Toshi and Foo are the best hostes ever and they always brought good energy. Even when we did something wrong they always communicated in a friendly way with us. Also the work was very easy so we had lots of free time! And I had the opportunity to surf for the first time, so whenever the waves where good we could always get surf equipment and walk to the beach. Aoshima itself is an amazing place and I understand why people call it the Hawaii of Japan. Thank you for everything, hope to see you again;D

I loved my stay in Miyazaki, way better than expected, specially because I learn about it after finding this volunteering experience. The owners and my fellow staff were awesome, plus the tasks are very easy, usually 2 hours of work per day and then you are free to explore the region and all its nature. In my case (as I'm not a surfer) I usually took one of the bikes the guest house provided and went exploring for hours. Sadly, during my stay, everyone was busy to give me surfing lessons but is understandable.

Toshisan and Fuhchan were amazing hosts! They took me in kindly and the people there were so welcoming and just nice too. Work was just as agreed on and all of the 4 locations were great and absolutely doable in time and effort. In my freetime it was easy to go to Miyazaki city or even Fukuoak but almost every day you can take a walk at the beautiful beach of Aoshima. Toshisan even took me surfing for the first time. It was an unforgettable experience and for me my first time with worldpacker. Definitely recommend this Place. Thank you for everything :)

⭐⭐ I Loved my stay here⭐⭐ *Important not:n Prepare cash ahead of time. I used to live in a small town and coming to Aoshima was a "Home away from Home." If you want to experience city life, then Miyazaki is a 30 minute train ride away. But Aoshima provides a relaxing vibe. Espically since the beach is a 2 minute walk away. You can always go surfing, hiking or visit the Aoshima Shrine. Toshisan- was a great host to have. Was very attentive if I need help with anything. Housekeeping was quite self-explanatory and we would finish in about 2 hours or less. 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

I had a great time in Aoshima! I loved going surfing and fishing during the daytime. There were also plenty of great restaurants around to eat at. The local supermarket and 7/11 were also convenient. Toshi san kindly gave us the opportunity to improve our Japanese by working on the reception during the evenings. I also enjoyed talking to him and his wife Foo. I felt very welcomed! Staff accomodation is in a nearby building in rooms with bunkbeds and a shared kitchen, bathroom and lounge which sometimes guests use as well. The other staff were nice and I'd like to go back!

2022 was a long year but with this unique experience December passed faster than expected. I loved Aoshima and the stay. It was very close to the ocean and it was a perfect surfing spot. It was a relative chill season and I was fortunate to have plenty of time to get to know the place and surf. as a first time traveler to Japan, the Toshan and Foo was very welcoming and helped me better understand the country and Miyazaki. The host is a interesting person and although I do not speak Japanese we had interesting conversations during my month long stay! Aoshima and the guest house will be missed!

A great place if you love surfing and sea-fishing. The food at local resturants here is also fantastic. Toshi is an awesome host and this was a lovely place to spend Christmas and New Years Eve. Surfboards are free for staff! My partner and I were assigned to do hotel check ins on a 4-7pm and 7-10pm shift. I really enjoyed this, as we got to practice speaking Japanese to multiple guests a night, and throught the 6 weeks I would say only one guest was rude. The space is quite cramped with 8 bunk beds in a small room. Kitchen was hard to keep clean, usually down to other staff or guests .

The place was very nice and chill. While it was relaxing, I had a good time with other Foreign and Japanese people alike at the place and was able to improve my Japanese a bit faster than when I was self-learning it. Huge thanks to the owner Toshi san and his wife Fuu to give me an opportunity to stay by his place and allowed me to give a good learning experience, he helped me and my brother with a lot of legal matters in Japan and any problems I had to deal with. Highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to get together with people and/or enjoy the beach (surfing is quite good there!).

Young people who like easy work & surfing leave 5 stars. No gloves to clean a toilet... with toilet paper? Shoddy all over. Damp, dirty staff accommodations where guests also stay (wow, kewl.) Some foul staff who have been there for 6 months, and Toshi not wanting to deal with it or fix things. It's ok that he doesn't work, but it's a mess. Google for the less positive reviews. I have 100% positive feedback for YEARS of RECENT farm work, btw.
