Detalhes
This program focuses on strengthening food security and climate resilience through sustainable agriculture and permaculture practices. Our 10-acre community farm supports the school and orphaned children. Due to climate change, irregular rainfall, and limited access to water, the farm faces increasing challenges that threaten productivity and long-term sustainability.
We are seeking motivated volunteers with experience or strong interest in permaculture, sustainable agriculture, water management, and environmental conservation to help us design and implement innovative, low-cost solutions. The program emphasizes practical, hands-on work using locally available materials, knowledge exchange with the community, and approaches that can be maintained long after the volunteer period ends.
Atividades & Turnos
Activities may include:
Assessing current farm layout, soil conditions, and water access
Designing and implementing water-harvesting or irrigation solutions
Improving soil fertility through composting, mulching, and crop rotation
Supporting mixed farming systems (banana, maize, coffee)
Training staff and students in sustainable farming practices
Monitoring crop performance and documenting methods used
Working schedule:
Volunteers typically work 5 days per week
4–6 hours per day, usually in the morning to avoid peak heat
Shifts are flexible and adapted to weather conditions and project needs
Afternoons are generally free for rest, planning, cultural exchange, or personal time
Regras
Rules and Guidelines
Volunteers are expected to act with respect, cultural sensitivity, and humility at all times
Flexibility is essential; plans may change due to weather, resources, or community needs
Safety guidelines must be followed during all farm activities
Alcohol or drug abuse is not tolerated within the community or accommodation

This is a rural environment with limited resources; patience and adaptability are required
We expect commitment to sustainability principles and responsible use of resources
