Electricity & Solar Support Project will provide reliable energy to our school and communities in rural Nyamira and Kasewe Village, Homa Bay. By installing safe electrical systems including 3-phase power and solar solutions, we ensure lighting, power for learning tools, and sustainable energy. Training on usage and maintenance will secure long-term benefits for children and the community.

The Electricity & Solar Support Programme aims to provide sustainable and reliable energy to our school and communities in rural Nyamira and Kasewe Village, Homa Bay. The programme includes the installation of safe electrical systems with 3-phase power and solar energy solutions, ensuring full-time electricity, lighting, and power for learning tools and essential appliances.
We are seeking volunteers and a dedicated team to assist with the installation process and to work alongside Kenya Power for a smooth and efficient connection. The programme also includes training for staff and community members on the safe use and maintenance of electrical and solar systems, ensuring long-term benefits for children and the wider community.


Atividades & Turnos

Activities:
•Site Assessment – Survey school and community areas to determine power requirements and optimal solar panel placement.
•System Design – Plan electrical and solar setups including 3-phase connection and battery storage.
•Procurement – Acquire materials and equipment for installation (solar panels, inverters, cables, meters, etc.).
•Installation – Set up electrical wiring, 3-phase connection, solar panels, inverters, and lighting systems.
•Testing & Commissioning – Ensure full functionality and safe operation of all systems.
•Training & Handover – Train staff and community members on usage and maintenance for long-term sustainability.
•Collaboration with Kenya Power – Coordinate connection and inspection for smooth electricity supply.

Shifts / Work Schedule:
•Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Site setup, wiring, and solar panel installation.
•Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Testing, adjustments, and training sessions.
•Volunteer Teams: Split into smaller teams (installation, testing, training) to maximize efficiency.
•Flexible Weekend Shifts: Optional for volunteers to complete work faster or during community availability.


Regras

Project Rules and Guidelines;
•Safety First: All volunteers and team members must follow safety protocols during installation and testing of electrical and solar systems.
•Punctuality: Participants should arrive on time for assigned shifts to ensure smooth progress.
•Teamwork: Volunteers must work collaboratively, respecting instructions from project leaders and Kenya Power officials.
•Equipment Care: Handle all tools, equipment, and materials responsibly to avoid damage or accidents.
•No Unauthorized Access: Only designated personnel are allowed in active installation zones.
•Training Attendance: All participants must attend safety and usage training sessions before working on the systems.
•Respect the Community: Maintain professionalism and respect local customs while working in the school and village areas.
•Reporting Issues: Any technical problems or safety concerns must be reported immediately to the team leader.
•Commitment: Volunteers should commit to the duration of the assigned shifts for continuity and efficiency.
•Documentation: Take notes, photos, and report progress for monitoring and future maintenance planning.
