A very pleasant experience working and living with Pablo. He is very nice and helpful. Going the extra miles for the good of the hostel and team members. He has got a discreet personality and a lovely quiet attitude, however always happy to go out and about. Hope to see him again! Thank you!

Volunteering at the hostel was a true adventure, I worked two days a week and got the rest of the week free so I could explore Montreal, get to know new people, practice some French and so much more. They're very flexible and are always ready to work with your schedules so you can take the most out of the experience. I made great friends that I will definitely keep in touch with. Not to mention, living at the old port of Montreal is a great experience!

Background

Education

After finishing high school, I applied to university and was accepted with a high score on the entrance exam. However, I realized I wanted to explore a different path, so I chose to defer my first year. I spent the next few years working as an actor in theaters across Rio de Janeiro, while also attending various performing arts schools to refine my craft. In addition to my experience in the arts, I earned a diploma in English proficiency and professional photography.

I later moved to the United States, where I completed my college education. There, I was able to combine two of my greatest passions: travel and filmmaking/media. As a communications student majoring in Film & Video, I immersed myself in all aspects of storytelling and visual communication. I’m deeply passionate about writing, acting, translating, and all forms of communication.

Work experience

I have 2 years of experience in business sales and over 7 years in the artistic world, working in theater, film, video production, and writing. My first job was as a salesman at a renowned bookstore in downtown Rio de Janeiro, where I worked face-to-face with visitors from all over the world, sparking my passion for working with people and written forms of communication.

I also spent 6 months as a full-time English translator, assisting volunteers from the USA, South Africa, Ireland, the UK, and Norway. Additionally, I have 3 years of experience in the banking and finance sector, specifically in cryptocurrency, where I focused on video production and design.

Beyond these roles, I started a small business selling chocolate truffles in downtown Rio, which gained national attention and was featured on several major Brazilian TV and radio programs. One of my proudest achievements is scoring 940 on the ENEM 2017 essay, which earned me full-ride scholarships to study Tourism and Film in Brazil. However, I chose to pursue my passion for communication by studying at the University of the Nations in Hawaii, where I received a partial scholarship to major in Film & Video.

Travel experience

I began traveling in 2017 when I turned 18 and have since visited over six countries across several continents. My first international destination was India, and as you already know, I attended college in the US. However, my heart still beats Brazilian every morning, so there's no place like home. Traveling has taught me a lot about the challenges of life, but it’s also shown me how to find joy in the with simple things. I always like to say that the sun will shine bright soon again, so just lean back and enjoy the ride. 😊
