Join us at Mama Pamela’s Homestead for a hands-on, cultural, and family-centered experience! Volunteers will help with gardening, cooking, caring for children, and daily homestead tasks while learning about Kenyan traditions, sustainable living, and community life.
You’ll become part of our family, sharing meals, stories, and cultural activities, while contributing meaningfully to our home and community. No prior experience is required .

At Mama Pamela’s Homestead, volunteers participate in a hands-on cultural and family-centered program designed to offer both meaningful work and immersive learning.
Daily Tasks May Include:
Gardening & Permaculture: Planting, weeding, harvesting, composting, and learning sustainable gardening techniques.
Cooking & Meal Prep: Helping prepare traditional Kenyan meals and learning local recipes.
Childcare & Community Support: Assisting with children in the home and participating in family activities.
Household & Homestead Tasks: Cleaning, organizing, and helping with small DIY or eco-projects.
Learning Opportunities:
Gain practical skills in sustainable living and permaculture.
Experience authentic Kenyan family and community life.
Learn about cultural traditions, local cuisine, and daily routines.
Program Structure:
Volunteers typically work 4–6 hours per day, with flexible schedules.
Free time is available to explore the local area, connect with the community, or relax in the homestead’s peaceful surroundings.
Volunteers are encouraged to share skills, stories, and cultural experiences with the family.
No prior experience is required — just bring curiosity, a positive attitude, and willingness to help. By the end of the program, volunteers will leave with new skills, lifelong memories, and meaningful connections.

Activities & Shifts
Typical Daily Activities:
Gardening & Permaculture: Planting, weeding, harvesting, composting, and other eco-friendly projects.
Cooking & Meal Prep: Assisting with meals and learning traditional Kenyan recipes.
Childcare & Community Support: Helping with children, guiding them in daily routines, and engaging in educational or recreational activities.
Household & Homestead Tasks: Cleaning, organizing, and small maintenance or DIY projects.
Cultural Exchange: Sharing stories, participating in family traditions, and learning about Kenyan culture.
Shifts / Working Hours:
4–6 hours per day, typically in the morning and/or afternoon.
Flexible schedules to allow volunteers to rest, explore, or participate in community activities.
Volunteers usually have one day off per week, which can be used to relax, explore the local area, or enjoy personal time.
Volunteer Requirements:
Bring curiosity, patience, and a willingness to help.
No prior experience is required — we’ll guide you every step of the way.
Physical activity is moderate; gardening and household tasks are suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
