Overall, my experience in Oaxaca was positive, largely due to the supportive staff, including volunteer manager Yessica and the cleaning team. However, I faced challenges while working with the bar manager, Bruce. His communication skills left much to be desired, and he often struggled to take accountability for his actions. This created an uncomfortable working environment, as his demeanor could shift dramatically, leading to unpredictable interactions. While I appreciate the beauty of the city and the efforts of the other staff, I can't recommend the experience as long as Bruce is there.

Fue mi hogar durante más de 2 meses. Fue una experiencia increíble, me sentí desde el primer día bienvenido y muy cómodo. Pato y Yess son ser humanos fascinantes, en gran parte gracias a ellos hicieron que mi estadía se extendiera. Mejoré mi inglés y amé Oaxaca. Un hostal muy chido y con un enorme potencial. Me permitieron tener un trabajo de medio turno fuera de mi horario de voluntariado y fueron siempre flexibles. Regresaré por seguro.

I had the best experience at tuichui I was there for 6 weeks and it flew by. There was so much to do in Oaxcxa and so easy to make friends with other volenteers and guests. The team was fantastic welcoming and warm. This was the best way I could have been in Oaxcxa and truly seen and experienced the city. Miss it already !!!!

El clima entre voluntarios y los huéspedes hace de éste Hostel, uno especial. Uno se siente en casa. Las actividades y los horarios son super flexibles. Recomiendo la experiencia!!

I volunteered here for several months. I felt safe and comfortable. Plus, I loved the team and the hostel. I also appreciated the support, freedom and flexibility (rare for a volunteer experience). Hours are fair (maximum 25 hours per week w/ at least 2 days off), discount on tours and drinks in the bar, free coffee, etc. Management is also so supportive - Adrian is an awesome leader. He respects the workers and makes it an enjoyable place to work. He also knows how to talk with the people and get things done. the hostel is home :)

I have enjoyed my time immensely. The team are friendly and supportive. The Job is very enjoyable, I was able to experiment with new variations of their cocktails. There are a lot of social events and tours. The guests are great.

El hostel es algo que todos tenemos que experimentar al menos una vez en la vida. Ser voluntaria en este hostal ha sido de las mejores cosas que he vivido. Sin duda uno de los mejores hostales del muuuundo. Conocí gente para toda la vida, conecté con la cultura oaxaqueña, le aprendí al bartending y a la recepción, y mil cosas más vividas. Agradezco mucho la oportunidad de poder formar parte del equipo, que al final son más que compañeros de trabajo, también amigos!! el hostel tuvo un gran impacto en mi vida, y sin dudarlo lo volvería a vivir:)

I had an amazing time and made life long friends. Work hours and tasks were easy and fun. I feel sad to have left.. i will miss my the hostel family. I worked mostly reception but did a couple of shifts on the bar which was a lot of fun. The hostel is located very centrally in Oaxaca and so much to do and see. My last week they were doing upgrades so the kitchen is now fully stocked with new pots and cutlery etc and they were adding more hot water boilers for the showers. Thank you for this experience ♥️

No hay palabras para describir la hermosa experiencia que me ha brindado the hostel, un hostal súper completo en donde te reciben todos súper bien haciéndote sentir en casa y dónde encuentras a tu segunda familia, por parte de los anfitriones todo súper bien excelente comunicación y felixibilidad. El hostal está súper bien ubicado en la ciudad de oaxaca a no más de 10 minutos del centro caminando así como bancos, mercados, estaciones y más, las instalaciones del lugar son acogedoras sin mencionar lo bonito que es, siempre estaré agradecida con todos por abrirme las puertas 🫶🏾 gracias the hostel Love

I had the most incredible experience at the hostel! The staff and other volunteers made my time there so special. They've created a family culture where everyone looks out for each other and I felt immediately welcomed to the team. The working hours are respected and duties very straight-forward. The team were also kind enough to let me have a chunk of time off so I could go on a little trip during my stay. I also went on the tours with the hostel and met so many new people! Thank you so much the hostel family <3.
