L'esperienza

Hello, We are a retired couple with an old farm in need of restoration. We need help around the house and land with tasks such as garden work and weeding, Spring brings lots of work with land maintenance, and tree trimming, setting up vegetable garden. Many areas need to be painted again each spring. We also need help with some block wall building some benches in the front yard and a barbeque area.

Dettagli del programma

We are new to the volunteer hosting program. I do most of the organization of tasks and work together with the volunteer on projects. Typically we decide on some tasks for the stay and work a few hours each morning or evening depending on the weather. Summer is hot in Portugal. Tasks are simple and don't need a lot of skill. Some outdoor painting, trimming plants back from walls, pulling weeds, raking leaves, topping up soil in planter beds, making things neat and tidy. As we restore this land the jobs are always changing with the seasons.

Attività e turni

Daily activities vary. One day it may be trimming the sprouts on the bottom of the trees, the next raking leaves. Some days I need help in the ceramic studio painting pots, or making things, and vacuuming the studio floor. Other days we pick a bigger project like organizing the storage room or doing some repairs on the rock walls. All things I can do by myself but just easier with a helper.

Regole

Rules:
We don't have a lot of requirements besides NO SMOKING
Respect the house and property, keep it tidy and at the end of the stay do a good clean for the next guest.
Put the sheets and towels in the wash, clean the dishes and remove all old food that is perishable, bag up the trash so we can take to the bins down the road.
To respect our neighbors quite hours are 10p to 8am.
