You will be helping our team prepare breakfast/dinner for guests, as well as housekeeping tasks once guests have checked out in the mornings. On your days off, you will have the opportunity to explore historic Canterbury, with its grand Cathedral, river tours and medieval streets to name just a few. My stay at the hostel for a month in October was incredible. The environment is excellent. I had a small private room for the entire duration of my volunteering and generous breakfasts. The work requires efficiency and motivation, volunteers tend to work in the mornings rather than in the evenings. I loved having the opportunity to help this dynamic, attentive, deeply kind and caring team. That is, to me, the big highlight of this volunteering experience.

I'm really happy that my first au pair experience was at the hostel. It was one of the best experiences of my life — the team is incredibly welcoming and attentive, everyone is SO sensitive and determined and profesional The working hours are not very demanding, so you can both work and enjoy the city perfectly. At the hostel, we truly have time for everything. My English has also improved a lot, since the team is VERY patient. And honestly, it's a real PLEASURE to work here. I loved volunteering at the hostel. This was the most professional hostel I've ever worked at; they have you do training videos and need you to provide a background check. I also received a uniform on my first day, which was nice considering I was backpacking, so more clothes that I didn't have to bring with me were definitely a plus. The staff was so lovely. This was my first volunteer experience where I was in my own room, as I was the only volunteer. I think this would be an amazing first volunteer experience. The work is simple, and the hours are fair.

Overrall I enjoyed my time at the hostel. However unfortunately one week I worked over 36 hours, and I was disappointed this couldn't be rectified or compensated for in some way. The work was also quite exhausting at times. The positives are that everyone is very nice, and the hostel is in a good location to explore the hostel and surrounding areas.

Thank you for your review, we all appreciated your energy and attitude in work and whilst I'm sorry you felt overworked whilst here, we are glad you enjoyed your overall stay with us.
As discussed, we were very keen to get feedback from you in how we could improve all aspects of our new volunteer program, therefore I'm pleased to say all volunteers going forward will work no more than 30hrs/wk, with the aim for everyone to work no more than 25hrs/wk from now on.
