I had a great time here! Tom and Theresa are so nice and accommodating, and I am happy to have found some friends in the other volunteers. We stayed in a cozy guest house and the town is peaceful. The work was manageable, and Tom let us organise ourselves so we had some free time to explore around. The horses went to a few races and trainings and coming from a different background it was interesting to learn about this world. Working with the horses was lovely, from caring for them at the stables, to riding on the beach and the track. I miss them already and I would come back to visit someday.

Thank for the beautiful words Irene, but why only 4 stars? What did we have to do to get 5?

All in all it was a very nice experience, where we found good friends and got to know more about the Irish culture, especially the horse racing culture. But one needs to know that the horses aren't ex racehorses and the volunteers drive to races about one to two times a week. The horses are all a bit special and not for someone who didn't work much with horses. The apartment we lived in was in general quite cozy a bit dirty (which is kind of normal with horse people walking in and out) and the pressure of the shower was a bit weak. Tom and Theresa are very nice and we had a lot to laugh

Hi Sophie, 3 stars! really? We really don't know why because the review was so nice, very strange. We are really shocked, you gave the impression you enjoyed yourself at all times , riding on the beach and talking about coming back here. You had the most fantastic weather and from I understand, it was your first experience. Perhaps it was being away for the first time was too much for you.

I had a great time at Tom and Theresa's place! Everyone was super friendly and it's easy to meet volunteers from all over the world. The work with the horses was fun and not too hard, and the beach rides were the absolute highlight! Most horses still take part in real races, which was interesting to see and help with. The accommodation was cozy with a nice fireplace and the kitchen had everything we needed. Only small downside was some mold in the bedroom. The area is beautiful, and the dogs and cats are the sweetest! Overall, a lovely experience and a great cultural exchange.

Hi, we are so confused, because between you and Irene and Sophie, you all rated us much lower then your words convey, it is like speaking from two different sides of your mouth. The unfortunate thing is we have no idea what we could have done better for a 5 star review. This is unfair for other hosts moving forward, I hope you are much more transparent with them . Wishing you the best.

My experience was nothing like I had imagined, so I've decided to leave this honest review. What made me feel uncomfortable were the living conditions, the atmosphere, and the integration. The volunteers' house is no order or cleanliness. I felt like the host didn't really care about. how we lived, so there was no real structure. But what made me leave the volunteering was the atmosphere and the lack of integration. There is no real relationship or cultural exchange with the hosts, If you're lucky to have fun fellow volunteers, the experience might be more enjoyable.

Hello Marina, We are sorry you did not feel welcome here. I will agree that there was a lot French kids at the time and they were a little tribal. However, I feel that you were too, as you traveled as a couple and were here 24 hours. In the description of this host experience, to manage expectations, we do say that this is not a family experience. We are working, I think the 24 hours you were here does not gives a full picture of what you might have experienced had you stayed.

As my first Worldpackers experience I wasnt sure what to expect but I think this was a great first step! I learned a lot about my style of preferred travel and living. They were flexible with hours so I could have 3 days off to travel around. The workers were awesome to hang out with and I made a ton of friends! I would recommend a stay with them but do be aware that the fridge is pretty small, and the toaster and microwave are broken, so all cooking is done on the stove top or in the oven. There is a washer but clothes are hang dry, and with humidity in September weather, takes about 3 days.

Max was an awesome young man to have around, very kind and gentle and easy to get on with. He was very detailed in his work and we didn't have to ask him to do anything, real self starter. Thank you for your review and your additional feedback, we appreciate it, you always have a place to stay in Ireland. x
