L'esperienza

We are a small family owned farm, breeding Serbian mountain horses, growing our own organic food and slowly working towards sustainability.
Help is needed with various small scale building, repair and decoration projects, eg. building a brick path, fixing/painting wooden fence, applying mortar... Occasionally, we might need help with other tasks: horse care, gardening, wood gathering, general maintenance etc.
We would greatly appreciate help!

Dettagli del programma

We offer:
- instruction/experience in all things we are good at eg. horsemanship, permaculture, moving from the city to the mountains etc.
- a no frills place to sleep and three meals per day, with occasional snacks/drinks
- free visits to local amenities
-discounted riding lessons
- cultural exchange and first hand experience of rural living and Serbia
- a reference for a job well done
In return:
-you work on daily tasks and/or projects either in a team or by yourself
-participate in communal activities such as cooking, washing up etc.

Attività e turni

We would normally expect you to work on average 5-6 hours per day, with one day of. Sometimes in a team, other times by yourself (on a previously defined project). It is important that you are a responsible and motivated person, that can pull their weight.
We usually start around 8am and work till lunchtime, around 2pm. After lunch, you have your free time, during which you can do whatever you want.
The exception to this are hot summer days, where we might start earlier/work shorter in the morning to avoid the heat and then resume in late afternoon, if needed.
Activities are various and depend on our current needs, your skills and interests as well as the weather!

Regole

-To apply for this position we need you to be a real jack of all trades, good with you hands and good with various tools. Many different things need to be built, repaired, crafted, decorated...we would appreciate someone with these handyman skills, as we unfortunately have very little :)
-The horses are a priority and are to be treated with utmost care and respect. We use a specific mix of Natural and Classical horsemanship and would expect you to follow our methods.
-Taking care of the environment, of all living organisms, of our house and land are the important rules. The energy efficiency is a must, as well.
-Though it is not a rule, but a fact: we are very hard working and modest living family and we would expect the same from anyone who comes to be with us.
