This was my first volunteer experience with WorldPackers and it was absolutely amazing! The host and hostel staff were very kind, friendly and welcoming, I felt like we became a family by the end of it. The host and I had a language barrier but were able to use google translate to communicate effectively and it encouraged me to learn spanish even more. The hours and requirements were agreed upon on the first day & were balanced well so that I was able to experience life in Santa Marta as well as have time to get my tasks done. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience & I can't wait for the next!

Juan es un gran anfitrión y el equipo del hostel, Dayanna, Sofía, Angeles, Isabel la otra compañera voluntaria y los huespedes me hicieron sentir como en casa, el tiempo lo pude manejar a mi gusto y creo que eso generó algunas confusiones, fue un espacio de mucho aprendizaje y no me queda mas que dar las gracias!

Mi voluntariado en el hostel fue genial. Estuvo llena de experiencias, aprendizaje y conexión con otras personas. Una buena oportunidad para conocer nuevos lugares y rodearte de la naturaleza en una ciudad maravillosa como lo es Santa Marta.

Felt instantly welcomed at the hostel!! Wonderful staff and Juan is super nice☺️although it get super hot here and the aircon is off during the day, it gets pretty uncomfortable sometimes, but great location and people✨

Santa Marta is a paradise on earth and staying at the hostel is an incredible experience because it is a cozy place with a unique energy that has the team. During my volunteering I lived with different people from different countries. Juan Carlos manages all the details so the hostel is clean, tidy and each member of the team knows what he has to do to make the tourist feel at home. It was my first experience living in a hostel and I will definitely come back.
