Volunteers are asked to contribute a small fee of 10 Malaysian Ringgit (around 3 USD) per day in cash, to cover basic living expenses like food and necessities. This helps ensure that volunteers have access to meals, toiletries, and other essential resources during their time in the program, allowing organizers to focus on supporting the volunteer work itself.

ArtGarden offers a hands-on volunteer experience focused on art, nature, sustainability, and community engagement. Volunteers participate in a variety of projects, including art creation, bamboo and woodwork, agriculture, construction, and cultural exchange, all while living communally and learning new skills in a flexible, immersive environment. Also this is not a requirement but if you have a tent let me know because of limited accommodation.

My two weeks at Art Garden Madi were an incredible experience. I joined the painting school project and had the opportunity to meet many local people, learn how to make clay, and even participate in a local wedding. Madi, the host, is a truly special person—he's funny, helpful, and made me feel so welcome. I left with many new friends and wonderful memories, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and immersive art experience.

Thien… the only handsome and charming gentleman from Vietnam. His efforts are never made for praise — he works diligently as if it is his own personal responsibility. I truly admire his good character. There is no task he cannot handle, and he is always the one offering help to us… meeting with a smile. I had a wonderful time at Art Garden Madi! Madi truly offers a beautiful experience in the jungle. He took us to many places to get in touch with the local culture. Next to that he and the place inspired me to work on a bigger art piece that was way out of my comfort zone. I learned a lot during my stay here, about myself and about the way of living in Ulu Dong (and Malaysia). Next to that, I met some wonderful fellow volunteers during my stay with who I had amazing great time.

Good, responsible, firm, meticulous, disciplined, and sweet… that is Michelle. What I will never forget is her skill in creating the historic dining table, which has now become a proud masterpiece at ArtGardenMadi — and not only that, it has also become a memorable first for all the villagers. Madi is an amazing host! He is always smiling, full of ideas, and has incredible knowledge. I had a fantastic two weeks and highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to escape from a big city. You can expect to do things like working with bamboo, drawing, meeting locals, and exploring the area. I highly recommend this place and would love to visit again. Blazej is a good, trustworthy, and responsible person in any task given. He makes an effort to understand each task before executing it to ensure better results. His willingness to learn and take the initiative in completing tasks is excellent for any host. For other hosts, I recommend him as someone who requires minimal supervision and carries out his work efficiently.

I had such a great time with Maddi. He is so kind and welcoming and open to all creative projects and ideas. My first week in the art centre I has been working building a seat out of Bamboo with other volunteers. Then I had a creative idea for a project of my own that Madi totally embraced. He encouraged me, showed me how to use the tools, and shared his artistic materials with me. I loved being out in the remote jungle, far off the beaten track. I would definitely recommend this experience to travelers looking for something different and out of the ordinary.

From the very beginning, I knew that Emily was a highly artistic person. The work she has done is excellent, and she is very committed to the tasks given to her. She is also very responsible in carrying out her work. Her curiosity and dedication in creating artwork set her apart from her peers, putting her ahead of the rest.
