What an amazing time I have spent in this place. I even ended up extending my stay bc it was impossible to leave such a lovely place and people. From the rest of the volunteers, the kite instructors, the amazing Pedro (the manager) and to the guests, this place will grow deep in your heart. I couldn't be happier with all the kite I did and improve and all the beaches we visit. I did the reception shift and I really liked it, organizing the activities and recieving the guests were part of my responsibilities. Don't even think about it anymore, apply rn, you will never regret it! Love u Burgau

Great man! :) Ignacio is a machine! In just a few days after his arrival, he became a fundamental piece of our team. Super fast learner, highly efficient, reliable, and trustworthy. He’s sharp, a natural host, and brings an amazing sense of adventure, energy, humor, and of course, mate.

This has been the most wonderful first volunteering experience I could imagine! the surf camp is such a warm and friendly place that I am sad to be leaving but so happy to have had a chance to experience :) All people who come here are super nice, guests are chill and I enjoyed spending time with them, but the volunteering team is something special (our manager as well) ❤️ The work is fair and not stressful, the surf camp is very cute, you can learn or practice kitesurfing easily, and spend time with awesome people, so if you get a chance to go, take it!

We had an amazing experience with Jovana. Truly a 5-star volunteer! Very professional, reliable, and very easy to work with. She was a solid Front Office/Reception support. Always responsible, very organized, while also showing great empathy and care in everything she did. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to join our team. The surf camp was full of firsts for me: my first time in Portugal, my first time volunteering, my first time as a housekeeper, and my first time staying in a hostel. It turned out to be a truly special experience, unlike any I've had before. In the small and charming village of Burgau, time, space, and relationships take on a different meaning, giving you the chance to disconnect and reconnect with a better version of yourself. Obrigada to the staff, the volunteers, and the guests who came together to create a fun, slightly crazy, but genuinely warm family. <3

It was an absolute pleasure to have Elisa at The Ocean Spirits Lodge! She’s easy-going, responsible, and always brings a great sense of humour to the team. The surf camp Spit Lodge is so much more than just a beautiful place to stay — it's a space where community truly matters. The team is welcoming, the shifts are well organized, and the reception work felt light and supported at all times. I was just a few minutes from the beach, met people from all over the world, made amazing friends, and still had plenty of free time to explore the Algarve at my own pace. Honestly, it's hard to put into words how special this place is. I felt at home from day one. I'd recommend it with my whole heart :)

My experience at the surf camp was honestly one of the best choices I could've made. I found an amazing place with truly wonderful people. There are so many activities to do, like kite, surf, yoga, SUP, wakeboarding… I never imagined I'd find a new family to share this kind of experience with. There's absolutely nothing I could complain about. It'll always be one of my favorite places, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Sofia was such a wonderful part of our housekeeping team, taking care of the Lodge as if it were her own. Hard-working, responsible, and also serious about fun, she brought a beautiful Italian energy to the lodge. She integrated so smoothly with everyone, full of good vibes and dynamism, and became a truly great team member who made this summer at the lodge really special. Experiência maravilhosa do começo ao fim! O lodge é muito lindo, cozy, cheio de natureza, áreas abertas para relaxar, super pertinho da praia, dos supermercados e restaurantes de Burgau. Pedro é uma pessoa incrível sempre disposto a ouvir nossa opinião e permite muita flexibilidade na nossa rotina de trabalho. As horas e tarefas combinadas são exatamente como descritas e/ou conversadas . Super recomendo essa oportunidade para qualquer viajante! Conheci pessoas maravilhosas, vivi momentos incríveis e me diverti tanto que pedi pra extender minha estadia hehe

Miranda supported us also with housekeeping, breakfast, and laundry, always done perfectly and with care. We definitely recommend her if you have the chance to have her around.
She made our days brighter just by being here. Maybe next time she’ll make more feijoada and brigadeiro! 😉

My new favorite spot in Europe: beach, town, adventure, nature all in one. Easy to move around and full of stuff to do whether you're into sports or just want to relax. It's got a laid-back, sunny vibe like California without the rush. Everyone speaks English but it still feels local. I led their social media and content creation, and it was the perfect mix of work and joy. The team, instructors and volunteers added real heart to it. Super grateful I got to be part of it. If you're thinking about it, just go for it.

Creating the new website has been a beautiful experience. We as volunteers were treated very well. Everyone at the surf camp made me feel truly welcomed! I've made friends, learned a lot, shared beautiful moments. the surf camp has a place in my heart. I'll be back!

Truly an unforgettable experience at the surf camp!! I had a good feeling about this place from the start but my expectations were surpassed by the kind people that call this place home, whether it's volunteers there for a short time or a whole season, everyone's included. This place is special and there's something incredible about being part of the team here.

I loved my stay at the surf camp! Pedro was very friendly and easy going, good to have around. We went surfing together, I could use the bike and surf boards as much as I wanted, house is nice as well. I was there in the winter season, so I could have the volunteer dorm for myself. We could even use the van to go surfing to nearby beaches, when in Burgau the waves were not so good. Workwise - there was a lot of choices to choose from and I could do what I wanted. Also a lot of self initiative - I could prioritise/ initiate the tasks that I found important.
