I really enjoyed my time at the project! Javi, Ruben and the team were super kind and welcoming, the work was light and reasonable, serving people was amazing, each day was different, and the volcano views are unmatched!! As everyone mentions, Javi is a chef and the food was delicious :) However, I do agree with others that communication and expectations here can be an issue, and it does at times feel like you're walking on eggshells trying to follow unspoken schedules or expectations. But if you're a respectful guest who is ready to enjoy lots of free time in nature, I recommend it!

Ready to have breakfast with the view of two volcanos? Once you finished should be ready for working in the garden and enjoy time in the nature 🌱 I had a really nice time there,playing with the dogs, having amazing food for lunch and prepraring soup for locals. My only recommenation is to pay attention to house rules (like anywhere) and dynamics in general to have a nice stay 🤗

My stay was nice! Work & hours as described, food is amazing, & fresh from garden. Dogs well cared for. Ruben is a legend, Javi is lovely but can be unclear in his expectations/communication which can lead to tension (amongst other staff, volunteers and himself). Experience tainted by Javi's girlfriend's behaviour. From not allowing us food at times, to switching hot water off from volunteer shower, a miserable presence who created a low energy environment. Would recommend for personal fulfillment (lovely garden, serving food to locals) but you need to see past chaotic & awkward social aspect.

El proyeto fue un hogar lejos el proyeto, lleno de energía positiva y naturaleza. Cada mañana combinaba tareas en la huerta con momentos de calma, mientras las tardes libres permitían disfrutar del paisaje y el proyeto. La comida, hecha con pasión, y la compañía el proyeto animales alegraban cada jornada. Trabajar en jardinería y cocina me ayudó a descubrir habilidades nuevas y reconectar con la tranquilidad de lo simple.

Javi es un apasionado de la cocina y la agricultura, y gracias a su dedicación te guía para aprender y mejorar en ambos campos. Durante la experiencia, descubrirás trucos de cocina y conocimientos básicos que probablemente desconocías. Personalmente, aprendí muchísimo y me fui encantada con el proyecto que se desarrolla en la Casa Volcán. La oportunidad de estar rodeado de naturaleza, sembrar, cocinar y convivir con personas maravillosas llenas de anécdotas y momentos divertidos fue única. Sin duda, recomiendo participar en este voluntariado. Solo deseo volver en algún momento de mi vida :)

Tuve una experiencia increible en el proyeto. Trabajé en el cuidado de la huerta y la limpieza del jardín, y fue una excelente oportunidad para conectarme con la naturaleza. El anfitrión es muy energico, siempre atento y siempre con una anécdota divertida para contar. El lugar es perfecto tanto para trabajar como para relajarse, con vistas espectaculares. Una de las sorpresas más agradables fue la comida, También disfruté mucho alimentando a las mascotas, que son muy juguetonas. ¡Sin duda volveria!

We learned a lot about sustainability in the garden and kitchen. The food we received was very good and you can also improve your kitchen skills with Javi if you like. Serving food to people was very nice and you can feel that you have an inpact.

Ha sido mi primer voluntariado y salgo muy contento del. El lugar es precioso con vistas al proyeto Acatenango y Fuego (por la noche se pueden observar las erupciones), Javi es un gran chef que ama la cocina y siempre tiene nuevos proyectos en mente, el trabajo es a la mañana teniendo la tarde libre para hacer lo que quieras. Para mi ha sido un voluntariado para disfrutar de la tranquilidad.

Our stay at the project was a really cool experience. We worked outdoors from 8 a.m -1 p.m and could relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the afternoon. Breakfast and lunch was included and believe me: it was very tasty! On thursdays we headed to antigua to give out soups- it's a wonderful experience. Im grateful for the time at Benji's and hope to come back one day:-)
