Our time at the school was absolutely fantastic. Our host Edwuin was great right from the start. He gave us detailed information about the school and the students before we arrived and advised us on the best way to get to Mariquita by bus from Bogotá. The lessons were so much fun. We really enjoyed working with the teachers and the students in the conversational classes. The students have such a great attitude and are really eager to learn. You normally help between 3-4 hours per day with the rest of the day free to explore the local area.

The place and people here are amazing! The classes are really fun and involve just having conversations with students and asking/answering questions- we often had students come up to us after the lessons saying how much they appreciated us being there. One little girl also gave me a bracelet! It was such a wholesome experience. If we did not have a flight booked home we would have stayed longer! Our host even arranged for a tour guide to talk to us and take us on local hikes, plus teachers invited us to socialise outside of school. Mariquita is an amazing town - highly highly recommend!

My first volunteer on a school went perfectly. The teachers and students were committed and adorable. The welcome was very warm, and the courses were flexible and interesting. We're not on our own, we're accompanied by teachers. Mariquita is a small, peaceful village where you can find everything, a very pleasant place to live. À beautiful region with many thing to discover around. It was an unforgettable experience. Many thanks Eduin and all the team 🫶🏽 I miss you

Shiny was fantastic, she is full of energy, everybody got along with her. It was an amazing experience for our students and teachers, she is very friendly, creative and proactive. As a teacher she is great, children, tenageers and adults love her. I highly reconoce Shiny.

It was totally awesome. I met so many people, connected with the students, and lived in the local community. I enjoyed my stay— It was really fun, engaging and dynamic. It was cool to work with the students that really wanted to learn. It was interesting to have to refocus on a language you know innately from a novice perspective, and then try to explain it. But ladies you do get cat called on the streets in the city and it is HOT. I mean HOT. Overall I would come back and do it again🫶🏿

This is a great opportunity to serve. The school and staff are welcoming, and the students are eager to learn. Also, the community of the area is open, inviting and respectful. If you have anything you want to do that you need time for, they are willing to work with you and they have information of the sounding area if you ask. It's a beautiful experience, and is a great opportunity to give and receive. Such amazing blessing to be able to invest my time and effort into the area.

If you want teaching experience this is a good opportunity to give it a go! I had guidance throughout so wasn't left to plan and deliver classes alone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Most of the classes are in the evening so you have some downtime during the day, although the town is small so there isn't much to do. Overall I had a good experience, Eduin is a great host.

I had a great time teaching English in Mariquita. All the other teachers were lovely and super welcoming as were the kids & adults I taught. The town itself is very chilled & calm. I felt very safe here and there are a lot of restaurants. The accommodation I was in was a little out from the town (but they give you a nice bike and I enjoyed the 10 min cycle each day) but you do have to be inside by 21:00 or tell them when you're going in or out as it's a school site which sometimes became a little annoying. There are a few accommodations though. Overall a great experience and I would recommend!

Excellent experience. Really nice little town to explore. There are two locations in Mariquita and another I worked at at another town nearby. My first teaching job and first WP assignment. All staff were very welcoming. Lessons were fun (sometimes teaching, sometimes as a teaching assistant. Accommodation pretty basic (which is fine for me). I was given a bike to use. A couple of things from the advert didn't seem to happen (lunches, Spanish lessons and hiking tours) but I have no regrets. However I missed a few days of work as I was sick

Rich and beautiful experience. I spent two weeks giving English conversation lessons to kids of all ages (and some adults too). Although i was the teacher, I learned the biggest lesson: they taught me to always smile and appreciate the little things in life. I love this stay because despite all the house moves (unfortunately there were only two beds for volunteers in the school and already occupied) Eduin always made me feel good. Eduin is a person with whom you will have a great time and who will do everything and more to make you feel better than at home. Highly recommended. Thank you
