Mi experiencia en Hostal el hostel fue bastante buena. El grupo de voluntarios fue super simpático y trabajador, por lo que pudimos tener un buen trabajo de equipo y ver un tremendo avance en el Hostal. Joep es muy simpático y comprensivo. Sin duda el aprendizaje es super diverso, desde construir y pintar, hasta crear y diseñar. Lo recomiendo!!

Não tenho nem elogios o suficiente pra descrever minha estadia no Hostel, nesse um mês vivi bastante e tive experiências que superaram em muito minha expectativa, mesmo em reforma, tudo era confortável e legal

Foi meu primeiro voluntariado na plataforma (estou viajando com meu parceiro) e o Joep foi super legal com a gente, nosso quarto era bem aconchegante e todo mundo aqui foram super legais com a gente. Chegamos no hostel na fase de obra, como pintura e montagem dos quartos então estavamos sempre ocupados, mas o horário de trabalho é bom e Joep é bem flexivel. Quero voltar quando o hostel estiver na ativa novamente!

My experience was wonderful! Joep is an incredible person and has always been concerned about the well being of the volunteers. Sometimes the renovation work can be tiring, but the tasks are pretty smooth overall. Nijmegen is a beautiful and pleasant city and it is very easy to reach other cities in the Netherlands from there. I definitely recommend this experience!

The hostel is changing very fast and Joep is a host like no other. He's always looking for ways to provide us some comfort and fun, he's also very helpful and it's very nice to see that we were able to help transform the hostel. The location is perfect, very central, and Nijmegen is very green and a welcoming city. I'm looking forward to seeing the result of the work and I sincerely hope it exceeds expectations. Great place, great people.The coolest construction site I've ever been to kkkkk

O hostel é confortável e bem localizado. É muito fácil se locomover pela cidade, principalmente de bicicleta. Não é uma cidade com muitos atrativos turísticos, mas tem muitos bares e clubes pra quem gosta desse tipo de programação. Achei a divisão de turnos não muito justa, mas conversei com o Joep e ele se mostrou aberto a encontrar uma solução. O gerente Erick foi muito atencioso, se preocupou comigo quando eu estava doente, e estava sempre disposto a tentar nos ajudar. A equipe de voluntários fez toda a diferença na minha experiência. Obrigada a todos!

Positive . The city's a real charm, I loved it. There's a good train station and several bus lines . The hostel's atmosphere was nice . The owner let my girlfriend and me stay, most of the time, in a private room, and it was good to practice English with him. He was flexible with the work schedule Negative . The work, especially during the weekends, was tiring and stressful . There weren't any real employees and the owner only showed himself up for a few hours during the week and he was rarely present on the weekends. Therefore, the hostel was managed by the volunteers

I am sorry to hear again that you found it stressfull. As I said in my conversations to you I am taking the feedback on board and we are doing the same amount of work now with double the people, so it is all a lot less demanding.

I do not think your observations about the management and my hours are very accurate. But like we discussed I am looking for someone to assist over the weekends.

Olá! Essa foi minha primeira experiência com voluntariado, fui com meu companheiro. Trabalhava 4 dias por semana, 6 horas. Um breve resumo da minha estadia: Os horarios são bem flexiveis de trabalho, o hostel é bem confortavel, tivemos um quarto privado. porém há alguns problemas: Há camundongos, mesmo Joep lutando para eliminar eles estavam presentes no dia a dia, nos dias de descansos se você ficar no hostel vai trabalhar. Não tem funcionarios, os voluntários são os responsaveis por tudo que acontece, o hostel é desorganizado, o trabalho é pesado e cansativo principalmente final de semana.

I am sorry to hear you feel this way. I did take some of your feedback on board already, but let me respond to what you said.

We did have some mice, but we also have an extermination company working to eradicate them and prevent them coming back. I am happy to report we have seen no activity from them in the last week.

I do not recognize that you should work outside of your work hours. Howeever, I do think the work was more heavy than anticipated and as we spoke I tried to make it better for the future. So now we do the same amount of work with more people, so it is way less demanding.

About organisation; you got there when we had just opened up so it was hectic for sure. Things are being improved on a daily basis.

My time in the hostel was just amazing!! We had a room with 3 beds for the staff and in the beginning it was just for girls, that was really nice. there is an area outside that we always spend hours talking and chilling. The work is easy and sometimes the time of ur shift change a little bit but they always told us before so we could plan our day. Elfie is the manager and she is the one that we had more contact, she is sweet and honest about what they expect from you and the rules of the job. And Jamie's food is amazing, I recommend this place 100%. I could travel a lot when I was there( :
