Dettagli del programma

We at Lava Trails focus on operating high quality, overnight tours to the active Acateanango volcano!

As a volunteer, you would be assisting our hiking groups before and after their hike. You recieve them for breakfast in Antigua, join them on the bus to our supply center and you make sure they are fully geared and ready for the hike. After the hike, the next day, you are the friendly face welcoming them back to the supply center.

The tours itself are guided by professional local guides. You wont be a guide on our tours, more a community manager making sure everything runs smoothly and everybody feels seen and well prepared.

Attività e turni

6:45 – 7:30 AM – Starts at Kaldi Kapra Coffee House - Getting ready:
Receive our hikers, and make sure their reservation matches the manifest document
Enjoy breakfast with the group going up that day!

7:30 – 8:30 AM – Join the hikers on the shuttle from Antigua to the supply center and give a short 2-minute orientation during the ride, explaining what they can expect throughout the day.
Make sure they know that they can come to you if they have any questions/needs (Very important, key).

8:30 – 9:30 AM – Preparation for the hike at the supply center:
While our supply center manager is giving the complete briefing to the hikers check that our gear on the cabins is enough and if there isn't any ripped or missing zippers on the jackets.

- Make sure all gear (such as buffs, scarves, etc.) is clean and smells fresh.
Check if we have enough poles, backpacks and headlamps.

- Check if hikers need help to find the right clothing and address any questions they may have about the hike.
- Ensure that all participants feel supported and have everything they need to begin their journey

During this time, we need to give the best customer service!

9:30 – 10:00 AM - Waiting for other group to arrive back to the supply center
Check that the merchandise section in the supply center is properly stocked.

10:00 – 11:30 AM – Return of the group that hiked the day before:
Engage with the group to know how did the guides treated them
Ask how was the pace for each person (speed, breaks and if they didn't felt rushed)
How was the food (good, enough etc)

11:30 – 12:30 AM – Ride the bus back to Antigua with the group.

Extra Tasks:
- Occasionally, you may need to run small errands in the afternoon to restock the supply center.
- Take on little side projects that you think might improve ou
