Meet local Japanese people and teaching kids who wants to learn English.
We have many experiences of host family.
I (Kenta) was backpacker when I was young, traveled 40 countries, so We can support what travelers want.
You can come to becoming our family, and let's enjoy life with us.
Volunteering times are flexible.
We also want you to visit Mt. Fuji and Tokyo area during your stay.
1 hour from Tokyo. 20 minutes to Mt. Fuji.
We all speak English. We will help your stay as much as we can. Once you join our program, you are part of our family, so you can come back any time you want. You can join Japanese language school Calligraphy experience

My volunteer experience at Study Garden as an English teacher was truly meaningful to me. Spending time with the kids, teaching them English, and creating fun lessons never felt like work- it was something I genuinely loved. Seeing their smiles and excitement made every day special. The teachers and helpers at study garden were incredibly kind and supportive and respectful, which made the experience even better. I also had the chance to meet amazing people along the way, and those connections and memories will always stay with me. I’m very grateful for my time at Study Garden. Thank you!

Kenta was amazing and so was volunteering at this anazing place. Not only was it a wonderful experience by teaching English to kids of all ages, but I also learned to connect with one another and build stronger friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The place is nice and cozy, giving you a traditional ryokan experience while also having stores nearby to get food and necessities. I am truly grateful to have been a part of this and would 100% recommend this to everyone:)

I cannot recommend Study Garden enough! This was my first volunteer through worldpackers and it was everything I could’ve asked for. The work is easy and meaningful, the house has everything you need, the little town is cozy and peaceful and surrounded by nature and trails, I met the most amazing people ever and I learned so much about myself! Thank you Fumi-san (thank you for bringing me fruits all the time 🥹), Kaede and Kenta for the hospitality and for making me feel at home. I’ll forever be grateful for this opportunity and I’ll never forget this experience.

This was truly an amazing experience. It was my first time volunteering, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the volunteering world. Tsuru is small, but it has everything you need, and you have a great view of Mt Fuji. Tokyo is nearby and the weekends are free, so I was able to enjoy overnight trips in different places around Japan. The kids were great and the work was easy, only 2-3 hours a day in the evening, leaving your day free too. Fumi-san and Kaede-san are super kind and will take good care of you. I reccomend this opportunity to everyone :)

My experience at Study Garden was wonderful!! Teaching english to japanese kids is so meaningful, and what I had to do was easy and fun. I've met amazing friends and locals I will never forget. The school and dorm feels like a nice place to stay, with traditional and cozy rooms. Having most of the day free I’ve could really enjoyed the town of Tsuru, and going into small restaurants just to eat delicious food, being able to walk in mountains so easily was everything I wanted! It’s also easy to move to other towns around like Fujiyoshida or Tokyo. Thank you so much Kaede, Fumi-san and Kenta!
