Puerta Vieja Hostel

Our Hostel is a brand-new Hostel in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas; Mexico. We opened our doors back on November 20th, 2012. San Cristobal de Las Casas has been awarded as the Most Magical Village in Mexico for 2011-2014, so the city can offer so many different ways to live: culture, arts, music, nature and a great chance to meet people from all around the world and to share experiences.

Our Hostel is just 2 blocks from mainsquare and offer different services and activities in and out the place.. Our place is an old big neoclassic arquitecture house, with a beautiful big garden, hammocks and grill.

We also have been awarded in some websites and companies like TripAdvisor and LonelyPlanet, which is a great motivation for us to keep working hard and improve all the time to bring our guests (and volunteers) the best experience and services.

This project just started with a main idea: to meet travellers and to share experiences. That's why we are doing our best effort to have in our staff people who like to share and to enjoy every moment, and we use to believe we have a big family here, so we are more than happy every time we have the chance to add a new volunteer to our family. It's just amazing. We also believe that quality/comfort is one of the most (if not the most) important side of a trip, and that's why we are working on bring it to our guests. We have had really amazing experiences in our short time with the Hostel, and we definitely believe we are just working and going in the right direction. We also have had the chance to make a lot of new friends; we have had people who have stayed for more than 50 days, or people who have gone and have come back at different times of the year.
