I had a great time at Tailor’s Hostel and I highly recommend this volunteer position. During the day I was free to do whatever I want. I usually went to the store at 8:30pm to buy drinks for the activities which started at 9:30pm. So that’s when the “work” officially starts. If you’re hanging around the hostel during other times of the day you need to keep in mind that you also have to be social and nice then. You are expected to talk to the guests and help them socialize and you can’t be too insecure because for example when did karaoke you sometimes have to be the first to sing.

This was a really nice experience. The team is really nice, Martin helped me with the adaptation and on the learning process. Please note that this is an experience for a very social and out going person! You will need to talk to a lot of people during the events and also communicate with the guests in a lot of languages (hahaha the more you know the better but English and some spanish is enough)
I would only leave as feedback for the hostel to maybe also give some money for food and maybe a more private (4 people room) and not a 12 people mixed bedroom. Thank u! I have learned so much 🩷

The best experience, o hostel é super confortável, as tarefas são tranquilas e divertidas, sem dúvida o melhor que ja passei, agradeço ao Kazu, por todo o suporte e a Guiti, see you soon, thank you very much ❤️❤️

I had to share a room with 11 people (guets).
Several days I had to work 8 hours a day (4 hours in the morning helping with the cleaning and 4 hours taking care of the pubcrow).
I needed to use my own money to buy the subway ticket to take the guests to the bars and clubs.

I would not repeat or recommend the experience, despite the amazing manager Kazu always trying to improve every situation by doing his best, it was generally exhausting and not what was expected of a volunteer.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for your kind words about the team. We’re sorry to hear that the experience wasn’t what you expected and that you found it exhausting at times.

We’d like to clarify a few points. While you mentioned the working hours, there were also several days when the pub crawl or other activity didn’t take place, and you had time to rest, even when it wasn’t an official day off. Additionally, helping with the cleaning was an emergency, not something that was required of volunteers on a regular basis.

Regarding the transportation, we apologize for any misunderstanding, but volunteers are not expected to use their own money to take guests to bars. We’ve always covered these expenses or provided alternatives.

We appreciate your feedback on team's hard work, as we always strive to improve. Your contribution is greatly valued, and we remember the good moments we shared together.
