I had such a good time staying here for two months. John is incredibly kind, has a great sense of humour and he is so accommodating, he really makes you feel at home quickly.
The work was really easy - feeding and mucking out in the morning, working the horses (groundwork, riding in the arena or going out for hacks) and feeding the horses dinner in the evening. There was always enough free time during the day to relax!
I already miss the horses, dogs, the cat and John and the other lovely volunteers. I'll definitely keep in touch and come for a visit as soon as possible ♥️

Very much enjoyed my stay. The other volunteers were super lovely and had a fun time with them. I learnt a lot from John with the horses. There were leisure horses but also green horses you can ride and help break in if you have the experience.

I had a great time at Ponderosa Stables. John is a good host with a sense of humour (you get used to it!) and he takes care of the volunteers even though he's often away. The accommodation is basic (living in caravans) and a bit isolated but its comfortable, and the work is fair + easily achievable within the time agreed. There is plenty of opportunity to ride for those who are motivated, though its worth mentioning that it's definitely more suited to confident/experienced riders since most of the horses are young and green and/or breakers, and riding them is a key part of the daily work.

I loved my experience. We live in a caravan, and I was surprised by how basic it was but you get used to it very quickly. We live in community, but everyone has their own space. As for the work, you're not asked to do anything you don't want to do, and the horses are lovely. I learned a lot from John who was really toughtful and I'm very grateful for it. However, I would have liked to have the opportunity to do more during my days, because the place is very isolated, so you have to plan something to do during quiet moments. In the end, I had wonderful time and I can't wait to come back !

John is a very welcoming, gracious, and fun- loving host. The work was light, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful place, the animals, and the peace and quiet. I learned a lot, met great people, and had fun! I hope to return someday!
