My Uc Au center

My name is Ty (pronounced 'Tee'). I was born in 1972. I live in Hong Ngu, Vietnam. I have a wife and 2 young children. They currently live in Ho Chi Minh City while I work in Hong Ngu.

I started an English Center in 2015 to help the less fortunate children in the area learn English.

I enjoy coffee, music, soccer, and the occasional beer.
We are looking for volunteers to speak English with our student. We are in Hong Ngu Town, Dong Thap Province. We have the sweetest children that are so interested to learning English from foreigners. Please come to visit our center.
We opened this English Center to help children who don't have a lot of money. We rarely have many chances to speak english with foreigners. We have no foreigners in this town. Thus, we'd love if you could come speak to them and help them practice English.
If you have no experience in teaching or if you are not confident - do not worry! Our primary goal is for the children to speak to you. You do not have to be a professional at teaching - just be a fun and kind person. This is a very relaxed environment. If you teach a full lesson, we will provide a lesson plan to follow (very easy, do not worry)

- You will eat free Vietnamese food every day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) - You will be immersed in Vietnamese culture - there are no foreigners in the area - You can explore the small town (island, ancient pagodas, temples…) in your free time. Many local people will smile or say hello to you Free accommodation: You will live with us in our English center or small apartment room next to the center. You will sleep in a small apartment next to the center with air con, a mattress, a blanket, and a pillow. Getting here is really easy. Purchase a bus ticket through Futa bus to Hong Ngu. When you arrive, we will pick you up at the bus station on a motorbike. Our English Center is a 3 minute motorbike ride from the bus station. While I was volunteering here, I felt a lot of warmth from people.
I made many good memories with the other volunteers and experienced the local culture.
Ty always took me to nice places to eat, and most of all, he was kind and fun he felt like an uncle to me.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the cozy countryside and just chill.

I had an amazing experience at the center! The kids are just lovely and eager to learn, so teaching was so much fun and rewarding. We also enjoyed playing a lot of Uno and Badminton. Even though teaching every day, I had enough free time. Ty is an incredible caring host who makes sure you feel so welcomed, shows the best food places and shares a lot about Vietnam, its culture & his life experience. He cares so much about the kids & I learnt a lot during my stay. Accommodation is modest but really everything you need. Everyone grew close to my heart & I hope to come back someday. Thank you Ty!

I really enjoyed my stay at the center! I loved helping the children. I also really enjoyed playing badminton with one of the older students she was very good! The teaching hours were quite long some days but it was a very rewarding experience. I would reccomended this experience. Mr Ty really made an effort to take me to all the best food spots in town aswell which was nice.

Nous avons passé deux belles semaines à animer des cours pour les enfants, très motivés à apprendre l’anglais.
Monsieur Ty nous offrait chaque matin un petit déjeuner local, et nous mangions à l’extérieur pour les autres repas.
Nous travaillions environ 5 heures par jour, avec des horaires étalés qui ne laissaient pas beaucoup de temps pour visiter. Nous avons néanmoins pu sortir certains soirs avec les étudiants (café, restaurant, badminton).
Nous logions dans une ancienne salle de classe, un confort simple mais suffisant pour bien profiter de l’expérience.

I stayed for two weeks and it was a great experience. Ty is very kind and, above all, caring. The students are nice, and to teach them English, I decided to use board games, which was really fun and playful. As for the room, for a European like me, I was a little surprised by the mattress on the floor and the shower hose, but I quickly got into a routine and the accommodation became adequate (the essentials were there). In any case, it was a really great experience, and you create some wonderful memories.
