Mango Tree Hostel
Over the past ten years the Mango Tree Hostel has been luckily enough to host wonderful volunteers from all over the world. Our family now stretches from Australia to Argentina to the UK to Germany to France to Canada to the USA to Lithuania and Nepal. Our volunteers love staying in our modernised colonial house, just one block from Ipanema beach and being part of daily life in one of Rio´s longest established hostels.
We are an Australian/AngloBrazilian couple who came to Brazil 10 years ago with the dream of setting up a hostel for experienced backpackers. We appeal to people looking to make new friends and experience Brazil but we are not a party hostel. We have a high proportion of private rooms aimed at couples and older backpackers. Our Brazilian staff members love meeting new volunteers and helping them with their Portuguese and introducing them to real Brazilian culture. At the Mango Tree real cross cultural friendships are made and there are always tears when its time to leave.

La localización de Mango Tree es buenísima, súper cerca al Posto 9 de Ipanema. Mayor parte del Staff fue excelente y construímos una amistad linda. Shout out a Pedro, Silas, Hugo, Leo y demás. El cuarto de voluntarios deja a desear, por suerte me pudieron reubicar y eso hizo mi labor con actividades más fácil. Hubo poca gente hospedada durante mi estadía pero hice lindas amistades y anécdotas con las personas allí.

Lo mejor de Mango es su tranquilidad y ubicación. Voluntarié con Redes sociales y el desafío estuvo en mantener la atención de seguidores creando contenido en temporada baja, sin muchas actividades y baja ocupación en el Hostel.
La comunicación con el equipo fue cordial pero limitada, diría que se habla solo lo necesario. Durante el proceso no recibí feedback ni correcciones por lo que asumí que lo estaba haciendo bien.
El único inconveniente fue recibir la habitación donde dormiría con humedad, mal olor y paredes manchadas, después de dos días conseguí recibirla limpia y en condiciones.

Great facilities, acommodation 10/10. I helped in digital marketing for 2 months. I highly recommend for its professionalism as a leading company in the tourism sector. It's a high standard hostel with international level of quality. I want to highlight the amazing front desk team(Peter, Silas, Lucas) and the cleaning staff . Fred, Eduardo and Ivan were amazing! (The boss team ✨) .
Hugo the manager has a unique leadership style: he is solution-oriented, empathic, experienced.
I recommend Mango! 10/10 🎉

Mango tree was a great hostel. They had a very relaxed vibe, one block from the beach. That simply could not be beat. The beds were great. The AC worked. The showers were hot, and the water had pressure. If you’re looking for a party hostel, Maybe there are other hostels that might fit that description better. However, if you want a nice hostel with a relaxed vibe, this is it!
