Disability Child Watch

Hello, friend! 🙂

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through our site. You are most welcome to come and volunteer with us!

Disability Child Watch is a community-based child development organization working to improve the living conditions of children living with disabilities. The children we serve are innocent, eager to learn, and always happy to meet visitors. The community is warm and welcoming.

Our organization runs activities all year round, including teaching, sports, physical work, ICT, and farming. Our local team is very cooperative, and together we will ensure you have a memorable experience.

At our primary school, we teach both children with disabilities and those without. You can choose to help with teaching, serving meals, collecting firewood, gardening, or cleaning the compound. All these activities are done as a team, involving pupils, teachers, and volunteers working side by side.

At our residential home for children with disabilities, we provide shelter, mentorship, and support to children from broken family systems. Our goal is to help them gain education and life skills, and eventually reunite them with their families within the community. We also empower parents to better care for their children with disabilities. You are most welcome to join us and be part of the positive change we are creating.

Through sports, crafts, and skill development, children with disabilities are gaining self-esteem and reaching their full potential.

During your free time, you can join our local team or nearby families for language and cultural lessons, nature walks, or even a visit to the source of the River Nile on weekends — just an hour’s drive away on a well-maintained road.

We do not charge for accommodation or meals, as we want volunteering with us to remain accessible to everyone. However, we kindly appreciate any form of support or donation to help sustain our school and community programs. Every contribution — whether in materials, resources, or small financial help — goes directly toward improving the lives of the children we serve.

You are most welcome, dear friends! 😊

My name is Amina. I represent persons with disabilities in our District Local Government, and I work with a team of self-motivated staff — both persons with disabilities and those without. As one big family, our volunteer assistants help fill important project labor gaps. Everyone is welcome to join us, because together we share one vision: improving the lives of children living with disabilities. You are most welcome, dear friends! 😊

Amina and her family were so welcoming, kind, and loving! If you’re looking for a family away from home, love working with kids, and want to experience a unique culture and organisation in a personal, intimate way, this is the perfect opportunity. I can’t wait to visit the school and Amina’s family again <3

I will note that while volunteers’ help is deeply appreciated—and the experience is incredibly rewarding—financial contributions are also encouraged. It’s best to come with this mindset and the means to give whatever you comfortably can. Also, be prepared for basic living conditions.

It was a good experience, Amina and her family are very welcoming and they have a good project at school, however if you're digital nomads, power and network won't work for you, so keep in mind, would also be nice to see the disable children at school.

This volunteering has been one of the best experiences of my life that I will never forget. The children are very friendly and loving, and they are always trying to help you. Amina and Rashid have been very nice to us because they have made us feel comfortable and have been very attentive to our needs. Disability Child Watch has been like a second family during my stay there. Thank you so much!!!

Playing and singing, with the children, dancing with the children, you loved the family of disability child watch that you also prepared meals for us, sharing the cleaning and keeping the environment conducive for a healthy stay.
